{insert thread title here}

So the tweet is posted by a fan not a media member

Okay that's nice

I agree with the vast sentiment in this thread folks have moved on etc etc

Danny Kaelin is our QB and I am excited about that
I think you missed the quote from a guy he was peer recruiting to Georgia months before we had some silly predictions from folks "in the know" who had him committing to DONU on 3/25.

…and? Wait, a kid felt certain where he wanted to commit but checked out other schools to be sure?? Oh, my stars!

Frankly, Dylan visiting DONU brought some good national attention and helped pull in some other recruit visits. We benefited from his visits too.

On with our awesome committed QB!

Nice try

Excited to have Danny Kaelin as our QB

Oh and while your at it why don't you explain this "silly" prediction you made on Mathis being a "hard Texas lean and time to move onto the next"

Which as Mathis spoke about later no one but his family knew where he was going

Post in thread 'TCU DE Transfer Ochaun Mathis Will Decide 30 April 3 PM CDT: Trending To Nebraska' https://forum.huskermax.com/threads...-cdt-trending-to-nebraska.129865/post-5314807

Here he is discussing the fact that know one knew where he was going but his family

Post in thread 'Ochaun Mathis is N: Update Talks Why He Chose NU Over TX' https://forum.huskermax.com/threads...y-he-chose-nu-over-tx.130757/post-5325018Post in thread 'Ochaun Mathis is N: Update Talks Why He Chose NU Over TX' https://forum.huskermax.com/threads...s-why-he-chose-nu-over-tx.130757/post-5325018

Bottom line recruiting is up n down and all around and things change not to mention information being passed on in good faith which often proves to not be fact

I will step aside now you have a great rest of the weekend

This recruiting game confounds me to no end. NU pursues a high-profile, legacy QB while all along the "guy" they really wanted was committed to an SEC school and most likely peer-recruited to Missouri.
Some sort of reverse psychology?

Like I often say it's not for the feint of heart

From where he was as a possible recruit prior to the new staff's involvement, it's amazing to me we were in the conversation at all. IMO, the up side to the national talk we were finally in again outweighs our collective disappointment that he signed elsewhere.

As tp the fan tweeting that we were 'used', whatever. If he'd have committed to Nebraska or given us a verbal and then he was actively peer recruiting for Georgia and we end up not getting Kaelin, then I'll talk.

Welcome to the world of recruiting in the NIL era. It’s no longer about recruiting it’s about marketing. Recruits are listening to and even hiring marketing specialists who are telling them to build their social media presence. The bigger the more NIL you can demand.

There was an interesting topic on another board of a recruit in a photo session who posed in 4 different jerseys in the photo session knowing he was going to marketing all four poses at some point to build following.

Honestly it's time to move on. His dad loved it here. He had a great career in Lincoln and in the pros. He's stepping into a situation at UGA where there is tons of talent there. I am glad we have Sims, Haarberg, Purdy (meh) and Woche and now Kaelin. Hopefully Rhule makes a turnaround and maybe in a year or 2 if he's all that maybe in the portal. Just get back to winning

Dylan has been tied to at least five high schools over the past four years. High schools. He’s supremely talented, and UGA is fortunate to have him joining their roster. That said, Georgia has a number of highly-recruited quarterbacks vying for one ball. What happens if he doesn’t start as a freshman? Will big NIL money keep him at UGA? It didn’t keep Ewers at Ohio State. How about after his second year? Dylan is now essentially a free agent for the next 3-5 years.

Here’s what I am sure of.., Nebraska needs to build its foundation. We need talented players who want to be Huskers, who want to build that base. The chances of Dylan ever being that at Nebraska was never good. Again, he’s been tied to at least five high schools in four years.

I’m hoping Danny Kaelin becomes the redshirt freshman or redshirt sophomore who goes yo the NFL after being a 3-4 year starter for NU. I hope he gets to play behind an OL filled with all-conference caliber players. Danny isn’t likely to have Dylan’s talent, but (IMO) he is more likely to provide NU with the stability and leadership for the longer term that it desperately needs.
