I think one could point to Rhule making the most important hire of his time here with Wade as OL coach. Since Rhule has been here, our OL has constantly been subpar due to us pleasing the Raiola family to get Dylan here. You’re never going to win many games if you’re subpar in the trenches. The new DL coach is more of a toss up on whether or not that works out, if it’s like last year, then the defense will struggle again. Though, two of the transfers Aurich brought in are top 15 at their position in the country. Expect the offense to look better with 1. A better OL and 2. A QB who isn’t a statue
Rewatched our game against Akron. We couldnt punch it in inside the 2, turnover on downs.
I get it was an early game, new players etc, but it was Akron. You're supposed to coach that, and being bigger, faster and stronger, you're supposed to win that one.
I also think by the end of the year, with our talent, we should be able to do that to almost all Big teams most the time. But never at the beginning of the year. Year after year?

I agree, Geep's a keeper

I think we can all agree why he was retained over and over. Had Rhule gotten rid of him in the first place and put a competent replacement there, we would’ve probably won 9 games last year at least

What’s idiotic about it? Seriously? It’s the most likely scenario, given its past decade. Can they surprise? Sure, it’s possible. Is it likely? Not really, unless something we haven’t seen happens. I’d lean 70% 6 wins or less, 30% 6 wins or more. It’s fair, given what we’ve all witnessed, unless you just want to leave your head in the sand. Someday NU will pop out of this cycle, but for me, I need to see it first.
What's the % for 6 wins again?

Probably 40% or so IMO. They will need to do something they haven’t done in a long time to get it, or better. Other than that, it’s sheer speculation based on what we’ve all seen. Like I mentioned, it’s certainly possible to win 8, 9, 10 games. I believe NU has a solid enough roster to do that, but the scheme and coaching has been awful. NU hasn’t really had an identity in years and years.

"Nebraska's Emmett Johnson was the top running back in the Big Ten in 2025, leading the conference with 1,451 rushing yards and averaging 5.8 yards per carry." Does that count as an identity?
He himself was great, and the running game got better and better thru out the year. That’s awesome, maybe that will start them to having an identity? They’ve been all over the place with what they’ve tried to do, for years. Rarely did they have much to hang their hats on. Maybe we’ve watched different football, I don’t know, but NU hasn’t shown much consistency offensively in anything they’ve tried to do for years. Emmett was damn good individually. Will they keep doing that? Let’s hope so.

It is the place to start. But why so late? And no pass pro consistency, which imo may have been a good thing, even if DR could sit back and pick teams apart.
We are now better along the O line imo. That includes our pass pro, same/better at run game.

No! The only identity is returning to the option plays of the 80s and 90s! Nothing else counts as identity!
