Greatest NE fullback.

Hands down Frank Solich
Frank Solich was never a fullback in the traditional blocking running back we’ve had such as Mackovica or Franklin.

Solich was a running back in the vein of Burkhead, Green or Rozier.

HuskaBob did a good job on post 33 explaining the difference back in the Devaney days.

according to the United States Government the official abbreviation NE is Nebraska. New England and the North East can go.... well you know.

Gotta go Roger Craig. Switched flawlessly from ib to fb and back. Could block, catch, and run the ball. Anyone think it was coincidence Walsh snagged both Rathman and Craig?

Interesting take. By the way Craig def wins as the best teammate of all time. Whatever the team needed he did.

apologize if all ready considered

Classic fullback, Dan Schneiss 1968-1970
1970 National Championship Team Co-captian

tuff hard hitting player out of a group of tuff characters,
and a pretty good punter

Great discussion….but why the he’ll are we arguing ‘stats’ when it comes to full backs?

As good as roger Craig was, he has no business on this list. A Nebraska fullback is a blocker first second and third. All of this talk about rushing yards and TD is really missing the mark. Will shields and dean stienkuhler were cornhusker legends but it had little to nothing to do with the 2 carries they combined for. Obviously on a fan board this is a subjective list but mentioning roger Craig and Rex burkhead is a injustice to the many great FB in husker history that did there jobs wonderfully. Sure some rock totting came along with the job, but there is a reason BOTH Tom Osborne and bill walsh moved Craig from the position after roger had success playing it in college and the pro game, as both Craig and the position of fullback could be better utilized with different personal. Is that to say he, or burkhead for that matter couldnt play the position? No, but roger was an I back and Rathman was a FB.
