Further proof HS rankings are crap

I do agree that at the end of the day, this doesn't matter at all.

It does highlight a bias that fans and media folks argue about all the time and is worthy of discussion.

Reverse the flip, Raiola leaves Nebraska for Georgia and I guarantee his ranking doesn't go down. Since the 'rankings' are supposed to be about the players and their perceived abilities, where they sign should not matter at all....but it does.
And DR wont suffer under Thomas
Not that he's even thrown a pass yet

Tough to even hide the bias at this point. On3 had Dylan as a 5* and a top 5 player in the country all season long. In their “final rankings” they bump him to a 4* and drop him to number 71 in the country.

None of it matters anymore now that he’s here, just laughable how some of these “experts” don’t even attempt to hide their bias.

I’m sure the drop had nothing to do with him spurning Georgia for Nebraska at all

Yea it’s total crap. The owners of On3 went into the Red Sea Scrolls and tried to explain himself and his evaluators and just got hosed by every Nebraska fan. It was glorious.

And it's not specific to Nebraska or that the services are out to get this program. If he had decommitted from UGA to say, Oklahoma St, the same thing would have happened.

Agree 100%.

Georgia identifies a Tulane recruit that's a high 3 star ranked outside the top 300 and flips him and he's going to rise. A lot....because 'Georgia'.

That's just dumb.

Agreed.

It just reinforces to me the fact that the services aren't really doing their jobs. I get it. There are a lot of D1 prospects to view tape on and evaluate. It's not a job I'd want and it likely starts with looking at who's offered the kid.
Imagine how many more kids could be evaluated if they didn't use up that time creating Lil darling ratings

I won’t argue. Can’t. It’s true. At the end of the day though, Nebraska isn’t viewed favorably nationally anymore, so you won’t get any favors. This really isn’t new, and couple that with the Nebraska armor taking a huge dent, and it won’t change until the program starts winning again.

The good thing is, I personally think Rhule is coming for the Wolverines and Buckeyes, and Georgia, not Iowa and Wisconsin. Whether he succeeds in doing so, remains to be seen, but NU seems to be gaining strength.

I understand and agree with the 'why', I'm just saying it's dumb because it should be about the kids abilities, not the program they're signing with.

Not doing their jobs, or, just straight up corruption? Also, who is all rating any of these players? Are they really better than say, you, or me? I mean, how the hell do we know how smart the evaluating even is? So many things to take into play here. It’s skewed for sure, but yet, it’s not a coincidence the teams killing recruiting are also dominating on the field.

I think it's not doing their jobs, and like I said, I wouldn't want it. If I'm guessing at a typical D1 yearly recruiting class, you're talking about having to evaluate and rank 4,000 kids? I spend a couple of hours looking at film for the kids we sign and that's a stretch. Granted, it's not my job and I'm not a pro at it, but I can see things I like and don't like and can easily develop my own 'ranking' for a player. I'm guessing some of these guys are pretty good at talent evaluation and others 'pencil whip' it, just like every other walk of life.

To your point, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, etc. get kids who're ranked high and win. They're doing their own evaluation and I trust that much more than I do On3, Rivals, etc.
