Further proof HS rankings are crap

When a good player moves away from the spotlight its a tougher sell. No one hates Nebraska other than Iowa and not enough people love us, temporarily or not.
They way I see it is thats up to us, the team, as MR said, show we belong, get respected, then become feared.
Will there be bandwagoners once we start winning? Sure. Will there be haters once we start upsetting the darlings of cfb? Sure.
Will a DR going to Nebraska then retain his previous status? You can bet on it.

Wanna shut them up? Win.
I remember back in the day, if you got a Nebraska offer, it was a big deal. Osborne carried a ton of weight. This is what happens when your program becomes Minnesota. Have to change the narrative that’s been earned.

The point is, a person shouldn't drop in rankings just because they selected a specific school. Where that school is in respect to the top 25 is irrelevant, it is the player being graded, not the school.

I think we all love DR because he is our QB but I would have to say his YPG is kind of pedestrian. His TD to Int ratio is amazing. He needs to develop still. But yes, recruiting ratings have their flaws.
Rather difficult to be on the same page as his receivers when he was constantly changing schools imo.

Once upon a time there was a Fox walking down a dirt road, looked up and saw these huge delicious apples in a tree. He was hungry and decided he would munch on a few apples to tied him over. They didn’t look that high and he was an excellent jumper. So he jumped and missed, jumped and missed again... After about 50 jumps and misses he was exhausted and said to himself... “Well they are probably sour and would taste really bad anyway”.... so I don’t need them!! Now the moral of the story is....
What a fool can’t have they despise!

Which is more than fair IMO. But dropping after he goes from GA to NE isn't the same as what you're stating.

The HS rankings are essentially irrelevant at this point.

The stage is set. Either DR will live up to the hype, or he won’t. It’s in his and the coach’s hands now. Hopefully, the o-line provides protection to make the college transition easier for DR and our WR’s can get open to make easier for the line to protect DR.

Tough to even hide the bias at this point. On3 had Dylan as a 5* and a top 5 player in the country all season long. In their “final rankings” they bump him to a 4* and drop him to number 71 in the country.

None of it matters anymore now that he’s here, just laughable how some of these “experts” don’t even attempt to hide their bias.

I’m sure the drop had nothing to do with him spurning Georgia for Nebraska at all

It does bode the question of what their justification is for dropping him so many spots and taking away a star. 247Sports has him ranked 7th overall, ESPN has him 11th, Rivals has him 2nd. Hopefully we get the last laugh in all of this.

I'm wary of those who don't respect the past and it seems thats what on3 did here.

There is a lot of people doing HS rankings and with that you get a lot of opinions/perspectives. I do think there are a handful of reputable reliable rankings. I lived with this since the '70s and TO knew better than most ... took 2* and 3* guys and won championships with them.

Nowadays I believe the rankings have become more reliable. Too many people doing it keeping each other honest. Not a lot of exceptions to the rule. NFL draft also confirms greater accuracy as a vast majority of the 1st and 2nd round picks are 4 and 5* players.

Always some art to the process as you cannot measure a person's heart, drive, motivation. Matt Rhule needs to take 3* kids and make them NFL players in order for NU to contend for championships!

He will. Many of his recruits were downplayed by some. A lot of those same guys are the ones to keep an eye on.
Mainly with a higher ranked kid they meet expectations or become let downs. Its when those lower ranked guys seem to come out of nowhere its a two fold win.

It does matter though for the future. Kids look at who's hyped up and want to play with them. It attracts other good players.

Ok, ratio that out now

87% were 3* or better
65% were 4* or better
Thanks this tells me guys get better and they don't get every guy and they're wrong on some guys.
Everybody misses, TO wished he'd chosen different on a certain rb from Kansas.
What I like are educated guesses, like TO, like MR. They usually know what to look for, it may not be there yet, but they know/knew they could get that kid there.
Same thing with the sites, just less education
