Further proof HS rankings are crap

I think we all love DR because he is our QB but I would have to say his YPG is kind of pedestrian. His TD to Int ratio is amazing. He needs to develop still. But yes, recruiting ratings have their flaws.
It's fine if you want to drop him from #1 to say #10 or something. I get it's fluid/an art. But to drop him 70 places when he played in one of the top conferences in the country and put up pretty darn good numbers with an iffy OL. And they keep people like Manning high when he played sisters of the poor every week. Plenty of other examples as well.

Hey don't get me wrong. The rankings are silly imo. The problem is that all of the top 100 players are studs and not much actually separates them.

Was it Marlon Lucky that went from 4* to 5* after he signed with NU?

He was dropped from the #1 player in the country to the #8 player in his own state and the biggest drop came after he left GA.
Must be the water?
Or the splash stories they can no longer write? Remember, Fla broke all SEC passing records and we couldn't play on grass. It goes much further than recruiting sites.
The fall of the PAC wasn't seen by many because of the inflated balloon they helped create was in the way.
Just like Lavonte, he is a hall of famer but he has to get past all the glitz

While KJ Bolden went from a high 4* committed to FSU to a 5* after he flipped to Georgia. I just don't put any weight into the rankings. They're fun for us to debate and speculate on but that's about all it is. I actually know one of the founders of Rivals and he kind of jokes about that business model being right place right time and also how they could do no wrong in evaluation. 'A guy can be a 5* in our rankings but if he doesn't pan out, no one blames the recruiting services; they blame the coaches. They just keep coming back to us looking for the next 5*.'

It seems to me this is just more of the Nebraska fans acting like we are somehow getting screwed in player evaluations. If we get a high ranking Junior and he drops after coming here it’s because we get no respect. If a 3 star doesn’t move up because he signed at Nebraska it’s because we don’t get respect but. We are somehow finding the diamonds in the rough that the evaluations aren’t capturing because they came to Nebraska. Yet for the last 9 years our classes have averaged top 30 and we are performing in the 50s and 60s. We have nothing to whine about. We are told every recruit is a great get.
