He is supposed to be involved. Whether or not he actually flips the coin, I suppose we will find out soon enough.

Right, that could just mean he's out on the field alongside the ref throwing the coin.
It could also even just mean that he's "honorarily" participating while sitting on the sideline on in the press box.
