I think Darnell is the oldest so far, but we've had several assistants in the past couple of years that are quite seasoned and are probably close to the end of their careers. I suppose this may reflect our head coach, who is one of only 6 P5 coaches over 60 and the third-oldest P5 head coach (behind Bill Snyder and Nick Saban).

OMG he is in his sixties and is a consultant, the sky is falling!! Seriously though, if you know much about the consulting field you'd be surprised at how many 'old guys' are out there after retirement consulting for some extra income. My dad is 70 and he consults for some practices. His knowledge and experience of 40+ years in this area will pay dividends of new up and comers. I don't see why age has anything to do with consulting experience except to add value... But you always take whatever angle you can to trash this coaching staff.

The age of consultants will always be older. However, when you look at the on field coaches. After MR the oldest is Cav and he is in his early 50s. (How old was Milt when he was put on the shelf? ) The rest of the guys range from their early 30s to their mid 40s. That is probably close to or a little less than the average age for paid assistant coaches. After Cav the oldest is JP. Does anyone think he is too old to coach?
 
I believe he will contribute and look forward to having him advise the staff. Devany is working out, witness Lee. Others have too. So I look forward to what this guy can contribute. Of course, I am still practicing my profession at age 81, and doing fine at it. So maybe I have a distorted view of the world. Its been a while since I have heard anyone raise age as an issue in determining ability.

Yeah it is not as if we are talking about computer networking and design, or web page design. Football is still football. He may see some things that a younger guy might miss.
