Nebraska-bound Kathleen Doyle leads Benet
Benet's secret weapon...guard Kathleen Doyle, the 'Nuclear Option.

With the graduation of premier shooters Emily Eshoo and Emily Schramek, the Nebraska-bound Doyle leads the team in both scoring (15 points per game) and assists (4.1) while playing great defense.
"She's a special player," Kilbride said. "She's got such a feel for the game and kind of what we need from her on a given night and sort of fills those holes.

Here's another tid-bit regarding Kathleen Doyle - Husker Recruit!

With senior night approaching and six seniors on his roster, Benet girls basketball coach Joe Kilbride faced a dilemma. Leave it to Kathleen Doyle to solve it for him.

"I talked to a couple of seniors because I didn't know what to do on senior night because there's six of them," Kilbride said, alluding to the common practice of putting every senior on the roster in the starting lineup for senior night. "She came to me and said, ‘Coach, I'm the one who shouldn't start. I've been starting for four years. The rest of them need to do this.'

I've seen Kathleen play in person. Great all-around talent and a great team player. Not very tall, but a good defender, passer, shooter, jumper, etc., and very unselfish. She will help do whatever it takes to help her team win, even if she is not the star. I don't see her being a big-time scorer for Nebraska (I could be wrong), but she will make everyone on the court better when she is in.

Video (9:58) Benet vs Fremd State Final. Benet wins 2nd state championship 42-39.

Kathleen lead her to team to back-to-back state championships in class 4A (largest class in Illinois). She will be a great addition to Husker basketball.

Per Sam McKewon, Amy Williams will be visiting Kathleen tonight. Kathleen is still considering Nebaska, but is also looking at Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

Personal note... I really hope Kathleen decides to stick with Nebraska. There is no better place to be a student athlete than at Nebraska.

Knock it out of the Park, Amy! :gobigred:

Kathleen will throw out the first pitch before the Chicago Cubs game tomorrow. Pretty cool thing, especially for a kid in high school.

No news on her commitment status...
