Take it for what it’s worth…. Allegedly, Florida State has been in discussions with Tony White to be their DC. FSU hired Gus Malzahn to be their OC, per reports. (Scott Frost to the bat line).

1. Why would TW attach himself to Mike Norvell, given the extremely short leash he has to be on.

2. Does FSU have more money for a coordinator than NU does?
 
For current job stability - maybe NU seems better at first glance. For personnel, NU loses two key defensive linemen that seems key to the TW defense?

White coached in the ACC at the Syracuse before coming here so he is familiar with the conference and probably feels he can have better stats in the ACC which parlays in to a Head Coach job for Coach White
 
Maybe this is the next step in Coach White’s career path.

He improved Nebraska’s defense the two years he has been here. He can now take that defense to a new historical power school in a new conference. If he has similar success maybe that helps him parlay it into a head coaching job that he would want.

Imagine how much his stock would soar if he can have great success at a program like FSU that is in turmoil.

If he leaves I wish him nothing but the best.
 
This should probably be on the main board as it’s been floating around a few different sites I follow. Seems to be a little bit more than just rumor
 
Footballscoop says rhule is working on bringing Phil Simpson from FSU to coach edge rushers. Never will understand why that isn't the DC's call
 
The speculation is the DC is either Butler who ok'd the Phil Simpson thing or its another guy who is currently still employed and this is a behind the scenes deal because they can't come forward quite yet.
