Florida Gulf Coast v. NU Game Thread

And in typical Doc fashion, he follows up his best coaching job of the season by escaping a far inferior opponent at home. How can a team go from playing toe-to-toe with a ranked team on the road, to needing a prayer at the end of the game, and ineptness by the oppnent to beat a team like Florida Gulf Coast? A win's a win, but I can't imagine anyone feeling anything positive from it.

How do you know that Florida Gulf Coast is far inferior to NU? They lost to TCU in Ft. Worth by 1 pt., and TCU is having a very good season so far. We will get to see how good TCU is on Saturday night. I don't think FGCU is a great team, but neither is Nebraska. I think the teams are actually pretty evenly matched, and the result showed that. We had way too many turnovers, and we did not play a good game. I like the fact that we won without playing very well.

I probably should of said a team that SHOULD be inferior to NU. You're probably right, FGCU may be at the same level as NU. That doesn't speak well of Doc.

Solid line by bo spencer:

2-11 (1-7) from the field. 7 turnovers. Sorry folks...this is not the point guard that is going to make for a good team. Best player? Maybe the most athletic and most able to "create" a shot but this is NOT what you want in a point guard. Nebraska is going to get BURIED in the Big 10. Easily could be 3-5. PLEASE, for the love of all that is holy, stop calling this "Doc's best team".

He's taking 13 shots a game to score 16. Not too efficient.
That is what he did at LSU and they were happy for him to leave as he is a scorer and not a PG like Jeter was....last year at LSU had like 3 to 1 TO to assist.

FGC is 3-6....lets stop making excuses they are terrible and we score 51 at home....they were more athletic than us with all their steals......we have 2 legit D1 players and one is playing out of position in Spencer. TCU is not good either as when they get to conference they will get buried like last year.

How can you make excuses for Doc in year 6 with this kind of performance? we still cant score as we like to hit 53 and call it a game. If this is Doc's best team then we are in serious trouble. The Big ten with their size and defense will keep us to 40 points a game?

Correct they are probably a little more athletic than NU and that right their says it all about the program and Doc.

Wow...that's all I can say.

What else can be said? FGCU? Really? Seriously??

I still don't know what to make of Spencer. he is a serious talent, but were we better with Jeter at PG?

Yeah, he had a bad game. But he has had some good ones too. We will see what kind of player he is as the season unfolds.

Well...when he's your point guard, #1 scoring threat and far-and-away the team leader in shot taking that kind of inconsistency is killer.

Sayig "how do you know that FGC is far inferior to NU?" and "I think the teams are actually pretty evenly matched.." tells you all you need to know about where NU is in year 6 of Doc Sadler's reign....this is FGC's FIRST YEAR AS A FULL D1A MEMBER! Let that tidbit sink in.

Just simply stating facts, not opinions. Just because no one has heard of Florida Gulf Coast Univ. doesn't mean they are a terrible team. They are currently 4-6. They are 4-0 at home and 0-6 on the road. As for their losses on the road, they have lost to TCU by 1, SMU by 1, Miami by 10, Maryland by 6, and NU by 1. Are they a great team? No, of course not. But they aren't a terrible team either. I think it was a pretty even match up.
