The university and the enforcement staff used ranges identified by the Division I membership-approved infractions penalty guidelines to agree upon Level II-mitigated penalties for the university and the football head coach. The decision contains the full list of penalties as approved by the Committee on Infractions, including:

  • A one-year extension to the current probationary period (through April 2023).
  • A $10,000 fine.
  • A one-year show-cause order for the football head coach, plus a five-day suspension from all coaching duties during the championship segment of the 2022 football season.
  • A reduction of the number of football countable coaches by one for two days of practice during the spring 2022 season.
  • All noncoaching staff members will be removed from practice and competition for five consecutive days during the championship segment of the 2022 season.

What entails the championship segment of 2022 season? Does it only apply if we make championship game?

Since a lot of this is on special teams, it makes you wonder if after we fired the analyst in question (I won't name him), that he called up the NCAA and reported it.

The Reddit CFB threads have a lot of other schools' fans saying it's kind of a bulls**t penalty because every school does this. Technically, having one of your "non-coach" analysts give any kind of coaching pointer could be considered an infraction. Literally, could just be the analyst saying something like, "Hey Player, great game last week. Remember to keep your feet planted on those run plays..."

Not trying to start a rumor, but it would have been hard for the NCAA to nail NU for this without some inside knowledge.

I guarantee you that you could find this same thing in just about every other FBS school

Speaking of the unnamed coach he is special teams coordinator at a brand new program at an NAIA school in the DC area

That tells you all you need to know

Texas was sending pictures out of Gary Patterson with stories of him helping recruit Mathis.

Yes someone probably turn us in. And I would bet a disgruntled employee was the whistleblower. But it’s over now hope they learned their lesson because when things are tuff , people will kick you when your down. The staff needs to not have to look behind them they need to focus on today because a small ncaa investigation will be the least of there problems if they don’t start winning ball games

I wonder if this violation will lessen the financial impact if this season doesn't work out as we all hope!

Was the infraction televised? It seems I remember some comments a way's back. We may have exposed ourselves.

I don’t believe it has anything to do with the product this staff has put out of late or any future product, This ncaa deal will be forgotten only If this team wins, if not the story would read more like “and you know he had a ncaa investigation which hurt us” Depends on your naritive.
