Field Goals

Entering a tough two game stretch with Indiana then Oregon and being able to hit on some longer field goals is going to become important. KC is 3-5 this year with a long of 40 yards and is 0-2 from 50 plus. Might be time to give Hohl a try on the longer kicks rather then going for it on 4th & 3 from the 40 against Indiana.

0-3 on 50+ I think.

First xp he has missed and it was not a good snap/hold. Not worried about xp's but fg over 40 would make me nervous.
We never saw the roughing-the-snapper call, where you cannot hit a snapper while he is still down in his stance. That likely played a role in the whole sequence. Not sure why it was enforced on the kickoff.

A couple people have said that and I am not sure that is the case. The snap would have been off before he was touched otherwise it would have been offsides. I am wondering if the D said something or flinched, then just plain ran over the snapper. Kind of like the punt that was not blocked in the first quarter, something out of the ordinary happened, but I guess it doesn't matter. I don't know the rule on why we couldn't rekick but I am sure someone will come out with an explanation at some point.

Apparently the only way to get the ball into the endzone on a kickoff into the wind was to kick from the 50 yd line.

Currently 0-2 this season. He made 1 52 yarder last season. 1-5 for his career

From inside 40 yards Cunanan was 14-14 last year and is 2-2 this year. Career wise, he is 25 of 28 (had three misses at Charlotte as a Freshman), From 40-49 yards he is 2 of 4 over two seasons for us and was 5 of 7 at Charlotte (7 of 11 overall). Over 50, yes, he has not done well as he has been 1 for 5 for us and was 0 for 1 at Charlotte. But those are pretty tough. They showed on his over 50 miss yesterday that there were issues getting the ball down correctly, while they said it probably did get down, it may have thrown off his timing.

Yeah, it might be good to give Hohl a shot on the 50 plus, but I think it all depends on what our situation is. A 50 yarder is from a LoS at the 33, so I think we just have to put that in our math.

I guess I am glad that if he had a miss on an extra point (everyone misses one eventually) it was one that came when we had a pretty much insurmountable lead.

Under 40 he’s money. 40-60 he’s 3-8 at Nebraska. 1-5 over 50 and 2-4 at 40-49, to make that next step as a program it’s got to be better then 38% over 40 yards
