— The Huskers were without
Tre Bryant,
Bryan Reimers,
Mick Stoltenberg, and
Keyan Williams at practice.
— In Stoltenberg’s absence,
Deontre Thomas practiced at nose tackle with the top group. He was followed by
Damion Daniels.
Peyton Newell has worked a lot at defensive end this week, with
Daishon Neal dropping down to the third team.
— Offensive line coach
Mike Cavanaugh was again unhappy with his group’s consistency on Thursday. In particular,
David Knevel, who Cavanaugh was a little disappointed by on Thursday. However, Cavanaugh was also quick to point out that Knevel has otherwise had a very strong camp at this point, but wants to see the senior finish it out.
—
Tanner Farmer is the No. 1 right guard at the moment.
Boe Wilson is behind him, though could potentially play left guard if needed.
Matt Farniok is also getting some work at guard.
— Brendan Jaimes has stood out to Cavanaugh among the freshmen. The tackle from Texas caught Cavanaugh’s attention on film as a high school because of his athleticism and that’s been as advertised thus far. He’s headed toward a redshirt, but the staff is pleased.
