Rhule listed four WRs the other day and did not mention CN. Although I think the CN is going to be successful here at NU, there is currently a ton of depth and I just don't see him cracking the top 2 at any WR position. That said, if he can crack the top 3 he should see some playing time.
PREACH BROTHER.I guess if Carter Nelson doesn’t come into the season and crack the top 3 than he is a failure?
Nebraska will play probably 8-9 WR at least the first 4 games. If Nelson has 2 catches by game 4 they will shut him down and RS him. If he has 10 catches he is playing the whole year.
The guy is super athletic and talented. Neither you or I has any idea how good he is. I get it you have a hard time seeing an 8 man player jumping to power 4 and playing right away. I thought the same thing till I watched him in that all star game.

I would bet he ends up second string, possibly a co 2nd stringI guess if Carter Nelson doesn’t come into the season and crack the top 3 than he is a failure?

Not at all. Like I said if he is in the three deep at any spot he should see some playing time. That would be an impressive feat for a WR to play as a freshman with the amount of depth we have. I am just trying to be realistic. This forum has a history of getting excited about a new player. Sometimes it is justified because our on field results have been poor. When a freshman comes in and plays significant time it either means they are a top talent in the country or that we just dont have good players at that position. I don't think either of those two things are true. CN is going to be good. But our WR may be ridiculously deep (and the coaches have echoed this sentiment). This year will tell us a lot about how Rhule uses depth. If CN plays more than a few downs per game it will mean that we are using a lot of depth. If he doesn't play much it will mean we are still using plenty of depth but not as much as we would like to get CN meaningful snaps.I guess if Carter Nelson doesn’t come into the season and crack the top 3 than he is a failure?
