Excited About Our Young Defensive Talent!

I’m pumped about the young defensive talent on this team.

Shavers was a beast—exploding to the ball like a young Lavonte David. Van Poppel redshirted this year, which is huge for his development. McGahee impressed as a freshman, taking snaps from players who hit the portal.

Donovan Jones was a great surprise in the bowl game, playing solid and stepping up big. Also, does anyone know if Dylan Parrott redshirted this year?

The defense is looking strong—who stood out to you or who are you excited about?

I agree, with all of the players with little game experience that played, very impressive.. I like what MR said, we will always have a good defensive team.. Lots of speed!!

All the young D linemen that played. Ochoa #94 even had a nice bull rush on one play. I don't know if we will be better statistically next season, but will fly around and cause turnovers. The young guys just play with a different motor. The defense will be good enough to win alot of games.
Same opinion here. Anyone with an east balcony birds-eye view of our defense this past year could tell we just didn’t have enough guys at the 2nd and 3rd levels who were “erasers” (game against Northern Iowa showed some of that). Shavers has built himself into a game changer. I think with our younger guys and portal adds, we will have some more of those types next year. And yep…. Ty and Nash gonna be tough to replace.

Would love to see Cam Lenhardt make a big step next year. He seemed MIA for a good portion of this year after such a promising Frosh campaign.
Yeah, I almost included Cam in my initial post along with Mario Buford. Hope both of can take a big step next season.

I have major concerns replacing 0 and 9

Shavers might be the best freshman linebacker at Nebraska in 40 years

He was certainly up there in recent memory. Josh Banderas and David Santos were pretty dang good as freshmen too. Excited to see his development though. He laid a few hits in that game that made the people around us yell 'ooooh' at the TV
