Solich firing by Pederson was a knee jerk reaction. His own hatred of Solich played into the decision.

You don’t fire a 9-3 coach that has made changes from the year before to improve the program.
LOTS of fans were on board with that one. I suspect regent's were as well. Hindsight 20/20.

Ahhh, I've not ran into anyone who thinks anyone but Satterfield has gotten himself into this position. There are a lot of reasons I could go over, but it's done now. Hopefully they can figure out how to win a game that's left.

Probably, I wasn’t happy with the firing.

I wasn’t a fan of hiring Solich when it happened. With that said, I was very happy with the coaches he hired and wanted to see what they could do. They also had a nice recruiting class going.

Too many boosters and fans thought 11 win seasons and top 5 finishes would go on for ever. So they make a rash decision to get rid of a 9 win coach and wonder in the wilderness for basically 20 years. Alabama, Tennessee, USC, Miami have all done the same thing. They think they can fire their way back to relevance.

A local high school football coach recently called Husker fans morons on X. He claimed that the fans made this happen. Also claims the fans caused the firings of Pelini, Riley, and Solich. I personally know this coach and respect him. I disagree with his opinion on this. So what do you think Husker fans? Did we cause this?
I think the I know nothing about football, and those who do understand football people accelerated the process. Ruhle may have just okay dude you suck and I have to make a change. I do really hate the idiots who say he's earning x amount of millions of dollars and doesn't care if he wins or not. That's so far from the truth it's ridiculous.

The people that bitch about the money, like it is their money, need to give it a rest.

I wish it did work the way you want it to. The more money they spend the better things should be. Satterfield has not been sitting around with his thumb up his arse for a year and a half. He wants things to work. It is just not. So, you go in another direction. Quit worrying about how much money he is making and move on.

I doubt it. No. That said, in any job, a person knows if they suck or not. They know if they do a great job, or a poor job. In this business of results and high pay, Marcus Satterfield has had to look in his bathroom mirror, and he knows in his heart, that what he was putting out there, was nowhere near good enough. He has to know that. I know he knows, but if he accepts it, is another story. That’s when your character shows up.

Whether he was in over his head or not, no idea, but what he was doing, stinks. He knows in his heart, this could happen. He has to know exactly what his offense is ranked, how it stalls out, can’t complete drives, and has no rhyme or reason to it. He has to know. Rhule knew, and probably most all his coaching piers who've seen film on the NU offense know.
Hey, the Peter Principal is a real thing. You go up the ladder, and if you succeed, you stay, otherwise fall down. But, hey, if you get very high pay, and realize it may not last and save some, you can do quite well. And some people wind up coaching High School Football in Texas. Emory Bellard, inventor of the Wishbone-T; UT OC; aTm-HC wound up coaching high school football in Spring, Texas (Westfield). Same with Jim Dickey former KSU HC. No shame in that. Vince Gibson, KSU HC in late 1960s early 1970's retired owning some Pizza Parlors.

I am pretty sure Satterfield has greatly exceeded my lifetime earnings; but I am doing quite nicely in retirement.

To me it is a yes and no answer. Was their fan outcry for the firing, absolutely. Was that the only factor, no. I was at the UCLA game. When we were getting ready to score our 3rd touchdown fans were booing. Not so much for the play call but the fact that time was running out and we were still huddling. We basically ran the clock out on ourselves. Fact is we should have been running a variation of the 2-minute offense all or most of the 4th qtr. Additionally, When there was still time left, we did one drive where we predominately ran the ball. It was very successful. Then the next series right back to passing. Going into the game most people were saying it was going to be tough sledding throwing the ball. Yet Satt could not help himself.

I think it was something that was coming based on his performance. I think that the fans/media pressure might have helped expedite the timeline of it. I think we would have been likely to see it happen at the end of the season, regardless. That said, I think there is urgency to make sure we don't finish at 5 wins again.

The Pelini firing had less to do with the fans in my opinion, and more to do with optics and friction between Pelini and admin. I also don't think the Riley firing was completely unwarranted. Solich is the best argument, but a lot of fans weren't happy with that decision either.
It works both ways. Fans saved SF for a year and a half.

Happy to see that Satterfield is not publically causing problems with Holgerson taking over play calling!

"Rhule announced Monday that Holgorsen will serve as the Huskers' offensive coordinator and will call plays for the offense for the rest of the season. He replaces Marcus Satterfield, who has served as the offensive coordinator since Rhule was hired after the 2022 season.

It is an unorthodox move to bring in an outsider for a top role like this more than halfway through the season, but Rhule made it clear he felt a change was needed to get the most out of the offense and its talent."

"Rhule said Satterfield would continue in his role as coach of the tight ends."

I hate to see anyone get fired. That being said this is on Rhule as he hired him. The fact that Rhule is making a change (really should have been done after Rutgers and Indiana games) gives him a pass. To Satt's credit and how classy Rhule is he stays the season. No issue with both of them doing this. I'm not ecstatic about Holgorsen but our offense only needs about 1 more TD a game (seems like a similar refrain for awhile). This does give us a better chance to get to a bowl.

Next year is the real question. I'm not sure how good our defense is next year. We will need a major upgrade on offense I think
