Dear God, do not storm the field

I can’t even believe this is being talked about seriously, but if our fans storm the field after beating a below average Colorado team, I think I’ll have to reevaluate my thoughts of just how far we’ve fallen.

I am not advocating storming the field at all. However, there is a lot of pent up frustration within the fanbase. Though I am not sure how many blue hairs plan on jumping the guardrails.

I hope Nebraska wins the game and whatever happens after happens.

This x 1,000. Keep things in perspective.

Until both schools show they can be more than DVD cutout bin programs, CU-NU is no more than a low-budget, badly written and acted, critically panned, straight-to-video production with Sharknado-like special effects. Mired in a prolonged career slump, they've become David Hasselhoff and Erik Estrada. Compared to how good they used to be, and the stakes they used to play for, it’s a showdown for artistic superiority between Knight Rider and CHiPs. No Emmys go to the winner.

Neither has been leading man material since films were on actual film – former A Listers reduced to celebrity boxing appearances and roles only Steven Segall should take. And fans of both schools should act like it. The CU boards are full of chest-thumpers going all “scoreboard” about the recent wins by bad CU teams over bad NU teams. They’re losers who probably also kept track of Vanilla Ice’s record in the ring on Fox. Don’t be like them.

Storming the field after beating CU Sat. would be like doing an end zone dance because you scored a standard-def DVD of Jean Claude Van Damme in Kickboxer at Wal Mart for three bucks.

I remember when highly ranked NU beat a very sad unranked Oklahoma team in 89, and jubilant fans stormed the field and tore down the goalposts. Some uppercrusts in the local media looked down upon such hooliganism over a relatively inconsequential game. But fans were excited because it was the first time NU had beaten OU in "our house" in what seemed like forever.

I agree with you... whatever happens, happens.

This isn't just a game between two average teams, you don't storm the field for that. But it is a game between two rivals with a history, so anything could happen.

If you would be mortified by the fans storming the field if we win, I’m not sure you have fully come to grips with how far this program has fallen since the departure of Pelini. It really has fallen that far. Enjoy the storming if it happens if we are blessed enough to end the losing streak against Colorado.
