DC Tony White *Expected to be next DC at FSU*

Norvell Is one more bad season away from being fired. I think Rhule has more rope and a more secure future for the next 3 years. If I were an assistant coach looking to move, I’d think hard about that. Good luck to White, but I’m not so sure he’s getting closer to a quality head coaching position making this change (if he goes to FSU).
Agree 100% and for what it’s worth, it’s friggen Tallahassee, not south beach. IMO more to do in Lincoln and Omaha than the armpit of Florida

I don't know much about butler's demeanor but the offense seems to be responding to a more fiery OC so maybe the defense would do the same? Idk but the defense was wayyyy too timid and passive to end the year IMO.
I tend to believe that DC being fiery is almost a prerequisite. Every great DC I can think of was fiery. McBride, Bo (Much better DC than a head coach IMO) Buddy Ryan, All very fiery guys. Defense is more of a want to. Offense is more cerebral. As much as I love Ty Robinson. Under a more fiery DC he may have been another Suh. He has the talent.

There’s a thread on this in the rumor forum, but just read a piece from Mike Schaeffer where he confirmed it and pretty much said White has interviewed and he’s their #1 guy. If he takes the job, it would be announced as early as tomorrow.

Not fantastic news but you do have to think this is perhaps insurance and why Butler was brought on.
Is this for the HC position at FSU, or another DC job?

Edit - it appears to be the DC job.

Bigger concern is who would want to go with White if this is true?

I would hate to lose Dvoracek or T Knighton who both coached extremely well under DCTW
D position coaches are all Rhule guys - they were here when Tony arrived. It was under TW's direction that they all performed reasonably well. Beyond TW, the one position coach I would most hate losing would be T. Knight. That guy's a wizard working with the bigs up front.

Got to get that reaction score up ;)

In all honesty, I really don't want to see Tony leave. The Blackshirts had 1 really crappy game this year. We were 4 or 5 plays away from being a 2 loss team. Yes, there were some horrific examples of open field tackling, and, yes, there was subpar secondary play, but the Huskers didn't surpass 6 wins because of the Blackshirts.
Well, that and the lack of offensive production and failures on special teams.

If TW leaves for FSU it is a bad sign because FSU will be changing their entire coaching staff next year.
Would be shocked If they let Norvell go. Most down here believe he has one more year. A few staff changes though.

While I think you are correct, I will, just for argument sake remind everyone he is also 1 year removed from being 13-1. He is not a bad coach and he has a lot of talent.

They only want him as the DC Norvell is still the head coach
So why would he consider a lateral move to FSU? White's annual salary will see an increase to $1.6 million each year for the two remaining seasons on his contract. That's a bump of $600,000 per year after he initially signed last offseason for $1 million per year. If he’s looking for more money or attempting to use FSU so Nebraska will jack up what he just got in his new contract I’d say don’t let the door hit you in the Butkus on the way out. If he really thinks FREE SHOES U in the ACC is an upgrade... good luck! IMO these long term multi-million coaching contracts are getting ridiculous. Oh well.....
