To answer your question my friend

1. Because 7 of the losses have come against schools that just arrived and have turned this “non-baseball conference” into a “pretty decent baseball conference”

2. Baseball is crazy….look at the Orioles this year. Sub .500 team. Last year Playoff team with all stars. This year, nobody hitting close to .300….3/4 of the team at .200 …or less….and the pitching has been atrocious. And these are the SAME players from last year.

3. Toughest opening schedule Nebraska has played in at least 20 years….probably longer.

4. See first three words of #2 above:)

In 2025, 12 teams will participate in the Big Ten Baseball Tournament. The tournament will be held at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska, from May 20-25. The tournament will feature pool play with four groups of three teams each, followed by single-elimination semifinals and a championship game.

Win 2 out of 3 series and don’t get swept …

And they will be in the BiG Tournament in Omaha

I think……

Kind of the way I see it. They need to win 2 of 3 in both the Minnesota and Purdue series so they don't lose ground. Michigan is already ahead so we need to have a good showing to improve out seeding for sure.
Like you said a while back, this team confuses the heck out of me. I watched the last 2 at Maryland and they looked pretty good. Of course, Maryland's pitchers on Sunday could not find a strike helped. Much like the football team, they seem to get complacent when they have a lead and good things happen. Then they let teams back in it. No idea why, mental mistakes are killers.

Only thing I would add is inconsistent play both on the mound and at the plate. One or the other and this team is top 6 in the conference easy. Can not have both. DONU has shown flashes of being very good, not great in both this year even after key injuries. Inconsistency in both is a killer. Impossible to build momentum or confidence. Walsh is a great example, been both very good and bad. Sometimes in the same start.

Solid post as usual John. You’re insight has kept off the baseball ledge this year.

Shocked over Walsh's overall performances this season. This team, as a whole, is continuously spinning in circles.

Sure is looking like "Wait until next year"! Sad. :Dighole:

Volleyball at same time today as baseball:

BTW, softball at1 pm also!

You all have a nice weekend. ☺
