Consensus 4* S Mekhi Williams Decommits From FL State; Huskers Finalist For A Flip

Notes from Tim's podcast:

Plan was to have 20 visits the weekend of 3/7/26. Some cancellations included David Folaruncho (rescheduled), Zahmir Tookes (sp?) out of Rochester, NY, Taveres Harrington, all due to flight issues.

Trae Taylor was back with Matt Erickson and Tory Pittman, all great peer recruiters. Some 7-on-7 teammates of Trae’s on campus included Khalil Taylor, a former Penn State commit.

Quentin Burrell made it in. Nebraska trails Notre Dame and Michigan for him. He’s a plug-and-play target.

Kei’Shjuan Telfair made his first visit. They could see him as a return specialist on top of his defensive back work. Nebraska trying to differentiate themselves from the pack by telling Telfair he can play in all three phases of the game.

Mekhi Williams from Florida came. #14 ranked safety in the country. Committed to Florida State. He could potentially be a nickel, too.

Corey Hadley will be on campus later this week. He’s a top ten safety that Nebraska leads for. Addison Williams offered him when he was at UCF.

Jailen Hill is a 6’3 corner from CA. He’s made a few visits but this most recent made NU a top contender for him. USC is likely the team to beat, with Notre Dame trailing. But NU has a real shot.

Kimari Whitfield plays at the same high school as Danny Odem.

Brandon Lockley made his visit. There’s been a lot of talent that’s come from his high school. He’s a top 30 LB, a four star prospect, and someone NU has been after for a while. It went as well as it could. He clicked with Rob Aurich. NU will likely only take one or two linebackers in this class. Lockley is someone they’ve keyed in on. Alabama, Oregon, and Penn State or his other choices right now.

Jeremiah Figaro weighs 205 now but will likely play at 250 someday as an EDGE. Aurich approached it as a partnership – that’s something younger coaches are doing – instead of a straight coach-player relationship.

Waylon Wooten also came back. He’s emerging as a top target. He’s athletic for his size. He best fits a three technique or even the shade. He’s developing a good relationship with Corey Brown and hit it off at Junior Day a few weeks ago.

Geep Wade had a big weekend. Waylon’s teammate, Jodan Agbanoma, IOL, also came. NU is top 5 for him, unofficially top three. Texas A&M and Georgia are his other finalists with A&M his leader.

Timi Aliu was on campus for both Junior Day and this past weekend. Wooten and Aliu have plans to return to NU this summer. Tim Verghese thinks those visits may not happen because they may commit to NU before then.

NU is closeto closing in-state lineman Barrett Kitrell.

Kaden Howard is committing March 27th and most are predicting NU. His visit exceeded expectations. He’s heard a lot from Jacory Barney. He’s also close with Cortez Mills. Larry Miles looks like him from a skillset standpoint. Minnesota and UCF are still in it with Kaden.

Kyler Kuhn out of Kansas City is visiting this month for the 5th or 6th time. NU is battling Iowa and Missouri. Oregon is also in the mix. Jackson Roper, #9 IOL, is also visiting but are trailing big for him.
