Consensus 4* (2027) QB Trae Taylor Has Committed To Nebraska: Invited To Elite 11 Finals; Invited To Navy All-America Game

I thought Millard South would be taking a big step back in 2026 after losing nine or ten D1 guys from a loaded senior class. After the news in the last few days, it seems like they are set to continue dominating Nebraska HS football.

Millard South is becoming the IMG of Nebraska. LOL. Seemingly a good arrangement for NU though.

Open enrollment. Nebraska law allows a student to attend a school in a district in which they do not live.

15. Can option students play on sports teams for the Option School District and participate in otherextra‐curricular activities at the Option School District?Yes. The option student once enrolled and attending the option school district is treated the same as otherstudents who transfer into the option school district from another school not in the option school district forpurposes of extracurricular activities including sports in grades 9‐12. For more information on options students andparticipation in extracurricular activities in grades 9‐12, parents or legal guardians should contact the NebraskaSchool Activities Association at (402) 489‐0386 or access information from their website at https://nsaahome.org/
Thanks. I live in Texas and I am pretty familiar with the UIL (Texas’ equivalent to the NSAA) rules. That scenario would never happen in Texas. I am curious why the NSAA thought it was a good idea.

Probably has to due with some schools being very small and rural and not having the same opportunities on the field and the classroom. I know Texas also has many small schools also but here in Nebraska more than 65% of schools are class C or smaller that is the last number I heard so I could be off a bit
Nebraska Classes are
A - Biggest
B
C 1
C 2
D 1
D 2
and in football Also a six man class

What I really find interesting and makes me go HMMMM is that while he is playing for Millard S in Omaha his plan is to live in Lincoln and Commute to "go to school" at Millard S. Wants to be close to the Husker trainng facilities, be able to meet with all the rucruits that come and and says in his words it is kind of a soft redshirt year.

My question is, how can this work? It was only a few Seasons ago that Gretna had to vacate their Class A title becuase they had a player who transferred in and lived part of the time with one parent in Gretna, but it was not enough, and he was deemed not eligible to play for Gretna.
They talked about this on Husker Online podcast. The rules are different, this isn't an issue going to Millard South. They also mentioned he planned to graduate early and enroll in January. So...I think he's envisioning commuting for a semester but making Lincoln his home base so he can hit the ground running. He could be wearing a uniform in the bowl game next year.

The scenario you just described sounds like a good plan and explains why he would Live in Lincoln and drive to Millard for that one semester

With two guys transferring in from out of state, you have to wonder how long it will be before other class A schools start complaining about this being unfair. Millard South is being compared to IMG, but if what I read is correct IMG doesn't compete for state championships with other teams.

IMG isnt, wasnt nor will be in a conference. Not true apples to apples. I'm sure Westside wouldnt turn it down.
I say build it up, share the wealth, the folks would love it.

That was their point IMG brings in kids from out of state, but does not compete with other in state schools for state championships. Millard South is competing with other schools and bringing in out of state kids that are tied to UN, which may well give them an unfair advantage in attracting high end talent from around the country.

Right, but that wasnt IMGs intentions. I think they initially tried but was refused. Thats not MS' origin or path.
Is the NHSAA willing to give up such a program?

There are plenty of complaints now about Friday night college games and leaving high school football alone. I'm thinking about the fairness to local players who's ultimate moment in football may be winning a high school championship. The competition should be as fair as possible for those kids, and I can see why people might complain.

Open enrollment is a good thing for high school sports, but this may be a case where the rule is used in such a way it's really more about college football than high school football, and I'm not sure that line should be crossed. At least when it comes to teams competing for state championships. Is it really a state championship if one team has 2, 3, or 4 five star out of state players that are all committed to Nebraska.
