I just think we played an “NFL style” defense … bend don’t break. Avoid the long pass play. I also think our former defensive secondary coach turned defensive coordinator also leaned towards protecting his guys.I’ve actually been rewatching some of the games from last year. Northwestern, Maryland, and Michigan State. Even though we won those games, the deficiencies in the defense were glaring. Hard to believe we were so “solid” on paper in many areas but so porous on the field. Hopefully, the new staff can come up with a plan to shore this up that matches our players’ strengths. With a seasoned and apparently talented AND mobile QB for the offense, we may just be surprised (in a good way for a change) of what the team could be capable of.
