Colandrea

I think Holgerson kind of alluded to it and that is Coleandra needs to makes throws that are catchable balls in the sense the WR can keep running , doesn’t have to stop or more importantly leads the WR into heavy contact . Obviously he has a strong arm and can make all the throws, hopefully his accuracy will get better .

I am sure some of it is sheer amount of game experience for AC, but he has solid pocket presence and when he has to scoot he keeps his eyes upfield looking for receivers to come open. He is fiery. He is pretty fearless because he will put some balls in some tight windows, windows that FQB1DR15 was scared to pull the trigger on. Things like seam routes in the middle 1/3 of the field. He sees the back end well and it is fun too watch. Kind of like an experienced point guard that sees the whole court and can score driving to the hoop when the play breaks down.

If we can keep the turnovers minimized on offense, we could be really solid and balanced on O.

Ed love you to
Ed love you to death and love stats but this is a time to use perspective. They had 37 yards total offense the first half. Yes they did much better second half but was against some of our backups and no blitz packages. We gave them the third quarter with our offensive mistakes. ZERO crowd noice compared to first half. Even our fans relaxed.

Colandrea is a huge upgrade. Yes, I know that he is vertically challenged and that might affect his prospects as a pro, but for what we want to do he is terrific. We have an explosive offense thanks to him and it feels great.

The offensive line is the primary upgrade.

No doubt this game was two different halves. We still have to put together a whole game. First half of Ohio was a dud and the 3rd qtr against BG was a big WTH.
I know it's still early, but preseason, I was worried we might have a Jeff Simms 2 on our hands. Colandrea's two years at VA were far short of sparkling. His year at UNLV might have been an anomaly. It's beginning to look like we've have a substantial upgrade at QB, IMO.

Overall I liked what I saw. I don't know if he is a better QB than DR, but he's a lot more fun to watch. My only beef is that he throws behind his receivers sometime, making catches more difficult. But I love his confidence and energy. And he's got wheels. After all the reworking, the pass protection still isn't very good. I hope he holds up.
AC is definitely better. Better suited for DH’s offense.

Let’s not forget that Kentucky was playing Alabama yesterday and not Bowling Green.

That should be factored into the two game comparison equation.
Point made, but also remember, this isn’t even your brothers Bama, let alone your daddy’s. NU is working on, this ain’t your grandpa’s Cornhuskers. Lol
