Weird time to be a coach. Larry Coker smoked Frankie, won a title, and was gone soon after. Early 2000's were nuts. Tennesee and Fulmer....
Exactly right. Our current state in was not the result of a single mistake but a chain or errors that created a disaster larger than the sum of its parts. Solich might feel better if we hang Peterson in effigy at halftime of the spring game, though
I completely agree. TO would have had a tough time matching his magical run had he stayed on another 5-7 years and I'm not sure there was another coach in the nation at the time that could have taken over for TO and kept that momentum for another 6-10 years.
“Reasonable folks” were not in charge at the time.I think most reasonable folks look back and realize the staff assembled in 2003 that went 10-3 deserved an opportunity to continue to prove themselves.

Agreed but I bet he wouldn't ever have gone 7-7.I think something between Pelini level and Osborne's 'typical' years was certainly achievable. What some folks thought should happen was 60-3 type runs in perpetuity, and that's just not happening. Osborne wouldn't have done it again.

For sure.A lot of us remember a good number of folks who wanted to run TO out of state each year prior to his last 4-5 years when he had similar records. Couldn’t recruit, couldn’t win the big game, not innovative, etc. The early Austin 360 days were brutal.
