Chris Jones injury

If the time frame is correct for his recovery...I wonder if it would make sense to redshirt him assuming he doesn't come back earlier than anticipated? This injury news has to impact the NFL Draft for him and coming back fully healthy would only help. I understand that he would have to be open to redshirting but does it make sense in this case?

:O O:
If he's sitting out due to injury he has a hardship case easily made and the NCAA likely would grant him another season.

It's not that I think there wasn't the greatest of effort to get Blades eligible, but if the kid needed a fuse lit, the chance to see the field very early is staring him in the face.

Knee injuries are the most common injury in football. The rate of injuries during games is 8.5x greater than the rate in practices, but since players have 9 or 10x more practices than games during a season, practice injuries are about as common as game time injuries.

A football injury study was done for the 1986 and 1987 football seasons. There was a combined total of 6,229 players in the study, with 445,856 Athletic Exposures (AEs). An AE is a practice session or a game.

Of the AEs, 410,165 (92.0%) occurred in practices and 35,691 in games (8.0%). A total of 2,820 injuries were reported, for an overall injury rate of 6.32/1,000 AEs, or 45.27/100 players.

The rate in practices was 3.93/1,000 AEs; in games, 33.68/1,000 AEs. Thus the injury rate was 8.6 times higher in games than in practices (in which 57.1% of total injuries occurred). This major difference in injury rate between competition and practice is consistent with most other sports that have been studied (1-3).

I hated the Kalu move to safety when it was going to be Jones and Jackson as our corners. I felt Domann and Williams with Kalu and Jones was much better. When Domann went down I at least came to grips with the move. Now with Jones out, it's Lee and Jackson at corner unless you move Kalu back. I think you have to move Kalu back and he missed all the spring. Missing out on Blades and not taking any other DBs for the 2017 class would be a huge blow for sure now.
Red Reign just posted in Blades' thread in the recruiting forum that he is flying somewhere...hopefully to Lincoln.

He hasn't used his redshirt yet so he doesn't need to apply for a hardship in this case.
