Apparently this is the direction Day wants to take OSU offensively. With Kelly coming, why Day went with Howard over what he had or could have otherwise have gotten makes more sense.
Perhaps I misread what you meant. When Day went after Howard he wouldn't have had any idea Kelly would be available. But again I probably misread what you were saying.
But people seem to criticize the players for their free ability to transfer and yet don't apply the same level of criticism to the coaches.
I agree that something needs to be done about transfers in college sports. But you can't punish the players for movement but allow the coaches to do it without any punishment.
You're talking about 18-22 year olds. Sometimes they make a bad decision. They shouldn't be punished for it if they go somewhere and realize it's not a good fit.
All you have to do is read this board and you'll see a handful of bad decisions every hour made by grown men.
That said, contracts are contracts and commitments are commitments. Regardless of who makes them or breaks them, they should be punished.
There is punishment, A LARGE BUYOUT EXISTS. Maybe, since these players are pros now, ya know, getting paid (they wanted this), they need a penalty as well? Instead of millions, how about you sit your ass down for a year, and by golly, you can transfer whenever the freak you want? So, instead of millions you pay to leave, you sit? See how that works brotha?
Nah, BS. They are getting paid. Bad decisions now come with consequences. Remember, yo ass wanted to be paid, so it’s big boy style now. You don’t get free passes anymore.
Ever took a job you regretted? Were you punished to find a different one? You already wasted one year of precious few.
Again, those are decisions that come with consequences. Make better decisions. You don’t always get bailed out.
To answer your question, take a bad job? Yeah, you can get punished for that, to the tune of quitting and not having a paycheck until one finds another gig. Decisions matter. We’ve all made horrible decisions in life, and most come with certain consequences. These aren’t kids anymore, they wanted big boy pay, and they’re getting it.
