Wide receiver Kanawai Noa, a recruit of former Cal head coach Sonny Dykes, announced via his personal Instagram account that he has committed to the University of Nebraska, where he will utilize his final year of eligibility under Huskers coach Scott Frost. Per graduate transfer rules, Noa will be eligible to play immediately.
In four seasons with the Bears, Noa was a popular target for Cal quarterbacks, compiling 94 receptions for 1,224 yards and six touchdowns, while also contributing as a kick and punt returner early on in his collegiate career.
After sustaining an undisclosed lower body injury in the middle of last season, Noa made his final appearance with the Bears in the 2018 Cheez-It Bowl, where he recorded a pair of key catches in Cal’s 10-7 loss to TCU.
The former three-star recruit out of Honolulu, HI had his best collegiate year to date in 2017, when he caught 56 passes for 788 yards from former Cal quarterback Ross Bowers, who transferred to Northern Illinois earlier this spring.
Noa figures to make an immediate impact on the Nebraska offense, led by 2018 Freshman All-American quarterback Adrian Martinez. In Frost’s first year as coach of his alma mater, the Huskers finished just 4-8.
