Bye Week Presser 10 November: Coach Frost

In this day an age very few of those because the majority of the punters are very good making it difficult to have any type of return
Sorry, I was too quick to post…in my original post I made a comment that we were lacking a return specialist…..I will be more clear… so I will say we are lacking someone that can be knowledgeable enough to realize where they are when they are about to catch the ball to judge when to catch and when to let go, have a clue on where the defenders are, where his teammates are, track, take the correct path to the ball to at best be able to catch before hitting the ground or drawing defenders attention to a spot away from the ball to allow the ball to go into the end zone for a touch back, on punts and kickoffs, I could, as you know, go on with intricacies of this special teams position, but I think I’ve been more clear now. Yes, most teams don’t have a person that just does this but what remains is that each team needs a person that can help counteract not only these great punters you speak of but also for kickoffs. There are specific skills for punt and kickoff returns that have not been exhibited in any great reliability for Nebraska’s special teams. I hope that the coaches would develop, train, coach, teach someone to fill this special team need.

Fair enough

I can agree to some extent but it’s amazing what you were willing to suddenly do when you feel your $5 million a year job is on the line.

Absolutely. This has been my concern. Frost should’ve been making changes in year two… year three for sure. But he didn’t.

And honestly, Im still thinking that Frost needs to adjust his approach to the culture/mindset of the team. Hiring new assistants may help with that, but typically the head coach sets the vision/culture.

I really credit the hiring of Trev Alberts for all of this sudden change. I think TA had much more impact on the decisions than the narrative that’s out there. But that’s to be expected. Trev wants Scott to be credited for making these tough decisions on his own.

I’m guessing that those daily/weekly conversations they had, included topics related to Scott’s staff and “… doing the same thing and expecting different results.” And more nuanced conversations on topics like ROI… hence the salary/buyout adjustment.

The next steps will be very interesting… seeing who is brought onboard.

Spot on and I don’t know how a reasonable person couldn’t agree with what you are saying.

JoJo Domann had an injured hand Saturday, but you wouldn't have known.

If it was the last time you see the super senior in a Husker uniform, and that seemed a possibility given some of the postgame reaction, the Nebraska defender put on a beautiful display of his all-around game that has flourished in 2021 even as his team hasn't been able to land wins.
Reading between the lines, my guess is that he is going to announce he won't be playing the last two games so that he can get his hand taken care of and be ready for the NFL asap.
