Listening to Rule at today's press conference. I like this kid a lot. He seems to have a great attitude; has a maturity level you want to see as a freshman and seems to be enjoying the ride so far. Having him at the podium this early is a sign the coaches like him too.

I think we have good backs, but I think he will emerge as a guy you can count on as a reliable #2 getting 8-10 carries per game.

Anyone you're buying stock in before the season starts?

Definitely can get short yardage as good as anyone on the team and is becoming an every down back as well
 
In terms of shortage I am buying penny stock in Genatone in those short yardage packages. He had had some mention and he is 225 lbs. And if he gets behind you, 10.5 100m speed will get him to the end zone.

I look forward to seeing the rotation unfold, especially behind this attacking O line.

I hope he hits the opponents as hard as his bowing ball hits the pins.
 
On offense, Colandrea and the o-line. I don't have alot of faith the RBs can make something out of nothing like EJ did last year so the line has to be good enough to allow the RBs to just be serviceable. QB run threat will help, too.

Hopefully the RB room is better than just serviceable, particularly against conference foes in November.

Wow, you really think Johnson did all that on his own? He had some nice holes to run into. Just because DR got sacked a bunch doesn't meant they didn't know how to run block.

This is why I'm as excited about this year as I am. The consistency just wasnt there, yet the ability was, same for pass pro.
We saw the same thing happening with the D line where guys weren't i their fits. There's a coach from Indiana who said "because we make them" that applies here.
IMO, EJ is the second coming of Sweetness , always getting that extra yard, didn't
get hit directly, falling forwards.

Yes EJ was doing it largely himself last year. His yards came after contact, not because the line was opening holes. The O line run blocking was better last year than previous years under Raiola, but EJ earned his yards and earned his All American.

As far as DR, a lot of those sacks were on him. Pocket awareness and mobility were lacking for someone with that many B1G games under his belt.

I am stoked to see some rotation with the backs with an attack react O line that is B1G sized with some plus athleticism. With Geep's history, I feel confident that this years line is going to create more holes on the first and second levels on that alone. We should be a top 6 or 7 in the B1G type line. We haven't been able to say that with any confidence in a good while. Jitterbug QB to account for is going to open up things for the backs as well.
 
Buying up the Claude Mpouma stock for sure. Rule and Sorenson too. I think Tyson Terry becomes a rotational player this year. Not sure if he'll make an impact this year but hear good things about Larry Miles.

I think you misinterpreted my comment. It wasn't that EJ ALWAYS had to make something out of nothing. My point was that EJ proved he could make something out of nothing when necessary and the other RBs on the roster didn't. This o-line needs to be better.

That's not some off the wall hot take and why, when answering the OP on "who ya got", I replied with Colandrea and the o-line.
 
Teams are going to be forced to account for Colandrea almost every rushing play. That should create better opportunities for our RB’s to convert more of those short 3rd downs and keep the chains moving. Good defenses usually ignored DR which created more pressure on our o-line to be perfect imo. So how many 4th downs did we convert? Well it was 28 attempts and 10 made... 35% which was ranked 128! As example Ohio State converted 70% of their 4th down attempts.

If our O-line is as good as advertised the Huskers offense should give even good defenses a lot of problems.
