Bryce Underwood given 'green light' against Nebraska

Seems as though we typically have trouble with scrambling QBs. Also, the Michigan QB doesn't have a bad arm. If the D can't put pressure on him (which they couldn't really do against Cincinnati's QB), and contain him running, it might be a long day. Maybe we can win in a shootout? (

This is my fear, too.

We probably need to have a fulltime spy/blitz man teed up at all times. The secondary has been playing well, but having a mobile threat means we need to get extra pressure. I don't think we need to send the house every play, but the Blackshirts are gonna have to get creative with coverage sacks, etc., to maintain pressure from lots of angles.

We most certainly do, and Michigan knows this...
 
Going to have to run a spy quite often. McCullough, Shavers or even Merritt are all fast enough and can lay a hit when needed. DBs will have to be sharp all game so the LBs can worry about Underwood. This is on top of keeping the normal run game in check...Will be interesting for sure.

He's really good at short and intermediate passes but isn't accurate with deeper passes. His legs and Haynes are the biggest threat. They'll use a lot of motion to try and confuse the young LBers.

Pretty much everyone has trouble with mobile QBs. The defenses that can contain them are the ones that have monsters on the DL who never have to blitz, so they can always get pressure and keep contain. And even then, teams like Bama, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, etc have been torched by mobile qbs.
Here's hoping the DL can get some pressure up the middle on Underwood.

That’s what I’m thinking too. Might need special teams and defense to score as well as our offense if we’re going to outscore them.

Everyone has trouble with really good running QB’s. It’s not relative to NU only. It’s a big problem. I see Michigan rushing for 250+ yards Saturday. Question is, can NU overcome that? Might have to score 30+ to win this game, because they are going to score.
 
I feel like being unable to stop the QB run is a bit overstated. It wasn't until Cinci was down 10 in the 4th that Sorsby started breaking off a couple chunk plays while we were dead set on keeping the receivers in front of us. He had 96 rushing yards and 56 of them were in those final 2 drives of the 4th quarter. Did it look great throughout the game? No... Were we a total sieve? No. They have stuff to clean up but so many people are acting like we're the worst run defense in the country without Robinson or Nash
 
If you look at Michigan's schedule, go to team stats, and see every team has passed on them. If we can half contain Underwood, get a couple of good hits on him, we win. Easy peasy, we will be a passing team on Saturday mixed with some runs to keep the D honest.
 
We have every right to be nervous about this game and this supposed stud mobile QB. Are we there yet as a team? Saturday will help with that answer. I can’t wait.
