One problem is, Bo has an "angry resting face", while Devaney was basically a big Irish teddy bear.

Time period also plays a big role in that. There were a lot of coaches that had that type of personality in Devaney's era and it was accepted. Today's world will not allow it. Coaches like Devaney, Hayes, Bobby Knight would not last very long.
