So, so true! It’s called taking things for granted.
Maybe. This has been a fan base that the decision makers were trying to appease by firing Solich which started us down this long journey through irrelevancy. So yeah, the fanbase is not beyond scrutiny.

I seriously doubt Solich was fired because of the fan base. Maybe because of the “donors of substance” but not the common everyday Joe Schmoe. FADSP came in with his “mediocrity” schpeel already drafted.
Who do you think these donors of substance are? Do they not represent the fan base? There were a LOT of common everyday fans that felt Solich should be fired, any argument to the contrary is just rewriting history.
Maybe. Given the sellout streak continuing through all the bad years, it could very well be it is a very loud minority that actually wanted to gut the program over and over and not the fanbase as a whole. You may be on to something.
There were both. It was primarily one guy who had a building named after him. At least that's the story.
I.e. one booster put the fear into FADSP. One guy who was a minority of the boosters. Just like there was a vocal minority of fans who wanted FS gone.

No, donors of substance do not represent the fan base. They may share similar views from time to time. But they expect something from their fandom support. They are assertive with their opinions and they from time to time insist upon action for their support

It's a pretty well known fact that SP and Solich did not like each other when they were underlings in the program. Acutally SP was not really that well liked when he was at Nebraska as an AAD by many in the department.

Well, in fairness, I’m sure the faithful assumed their leaders would deliver a better ball coach than Bill Callahan. Maybe I’m just assuming?
Sure, the fans expected the leadership to hire better coaches. But these same fans failed to recognize what they already had. Once we got Callahan, fired him, hired Bo and were winning 9-10 games per year and playing in conference championship games. Instead of learning from the Callahan situation, some very vocal fans thought that we should try our luck again at the new coach trough. And we got Mike Riley. Of course there were other issues with Bo being mean and not being very good at politics that didn’t help matters.
THIS. The lack of self awareness is what doomed BP and caused him to flame out (see Youngstown State and LSU.) He needed to adjust to the changes in CFB and wouldn’t. He needed to learn to self-control and didn’t.
The game moved on, and Bo stubbornly stayed behind. That is the opposite of innovation.
