My two weather sites say ave wind speed in early September is 9.4 to 11 in Chicago and 9-10 in Lincoln— home of the famed outdoor match. All sorts of risks in this, of course, but back to back matches on Fox is a big prize. The average Sept wind speed in Chicago is around 15 mph
It was a very mild day back in 2023 for that stadium match and Bergen complained about how hard it was to set because of the wind.My two weather sites say ave wind speed in early September is 9.4 to 11 in Chicago and 9-10 in Lincoln— home of the famed outdoor match. Unless they have a site that can hold 42,000 I don't think they have an alternate plan. Assuming it's a sellout you'll have to be able to honor all tickets somewhere, otherwise how do you pick who out of 42,000 get to watch. It was a very mild day back in 2023 for that stadium match and Bergen complained about how hard it was to set because of the wind.
I like the idea of using this Wrigley field Big Ten/SEC challenge to get more eyes on volleyball, but the risks are high. I give this a 50/50 chance of getting called because of weather. I have to assume they have an alternate venue planned if the weather is bad.
You have to offer full refunds with reticketing on a first come basis. Not perfect, but I am sure tickets will have all sorts of warnings.Unless they have a site that can hold 42,000 I don't think they have an alternate plan. Yeah I would think refunds rather then go to an alternate site that only seats 20,000 and try and figure out who gets in and who gets a refund. You have to offer full refunds with reticketing on a first come basis. Not perfect, but I am sure tickets will have all sorts of warnings.
I think you mean with Husker fans wanting to get in. Honestly, the other 3 teams will probably account for about 10-15% of the tickets.Yeah I would think refunds rather then go to an alternate site that only seats 20,000 and try and figure out who gets in and who gets a refund.
Also with two matches I'm guessing one ticket gets you in for both matches, so getting a ticket may not be the easiest thing to get with fans from four teams wanting to get in.
Missouri might not have as big of a following as the others, but I think Kentucky and Penn State fans will want to be there for something like this.I think you mean with Husker fans wanting to get in. Honestly, the other 3 teams will probably account for about 10-15% of the tickets.
Nebraska plays DePaul in DePaul’s basketball arena two days before this match. Very attractive weekend travel Chicago mini-vacation for Husker fans from everywhere. It won’t be 85-90% Husker fans in Wrigley like some away matches, but I like the chances of it being well over 60%.Missouri might not have as big of a following as the others, but I think Kentucky and Penn State fans will want to be there for something like this.
