Pfffft! To get Oklahoma back as a rival, I think NU would agree to almost anything.

Think about it long enough to form a sentence along the lines of Frick No.If Texas begged on hands and knees, I MIGHT consider it.
b careful for what you wish....16 team conference with no divisions, top 4 teams (based on AP rating) play off for the BIG championship.
Already used to television and big bucks meddling in the game...might as well give them what they want, so they can change it again.b careful for what you wish....
Out of curiosity.....why would the SEC going to 16 force the B1G to do it too?
Keeping up with the Joneses.
In college football there's a Power 5 but more accurately there's a Power 3 and a Titan 2. when it comes to TV Revenue it's basically a cold war arms race between the Big Ten and the SEC. The Big 12, ACC, and Pac-12 have nothing that can compare when it comes to the money raked in by the BTN and SEC network.
The B1G and SEC contracts are offsetting so essentially as soon as one of us negotiates a bigger payday then in a couple years the other conference negotiates and even larger payout. And that cycle just keeps flip-flopping back and forth making a larger and larger disparity between the other three conferences.
So if either conference goes to 16 teams it practically forces the hand of the other to also go to 16 teams. Two extra teams means a lot more inventory to sell to ESPN or Fox, especially if that inventory includes big names like Texas, Oklahoma, or Notre Dame.
Think of it like phone company monopolies. If T-Mobile and Sprint finalized their merger you can be sure that AT&T and Verizon will respond so they don't fall behind the market.
Yea who knows with them but with two 8 team divisions you have 7 games within your division. Even going to 2 crossover games don't get you many games against that division. You would play other members of your conference once every 4 years. If the SEC added 2 more teams though, they would likely have to go to 9 conferemce games or drop crossovers altogether, which I would not put past them.
If the B1G gets BIG enough, it will have its own playoff, its own bowl games, and its own championship. And it will be the quasi-national champion. I'm convinced that is the goal of Delaney.
B1G + SEC merger while grabbing Texas, Oklahoma, USC and Notre Dame. Everyone else can go play intramurals
