Big Ten 2024-25 scheduling announcement

Ouch. So we get one premier game and possibly neither team rated. Well the bitchers about a tough schedule and getting screwed by the B1G are happy. I was hoping we were in the B1G to play premier games. I hope this isn't right.
@Ohio State, @USC in 2025. Nothing to sneeze at.

I think by 2025 Maryland wil be close to a premier program, so our 2025 away schedule is really Big Boy football. Love it!

And we get early cracks at both West coast teams. Love that too?

Best of all I think we now have the coach that can put us in play on all of these games. Bout time.

This is all good.

that 24 schedule with LSU, USC, Ohio St, Penn st., and Michigan... goodness gracious. I cringe to think about a tougher schedule for any other team that year

welcome to the B1G UCLA

As far as travel goes, the West Coast teams get the short stick. The conference better get Wash and Oregon in soon or USC and UCLA will never make the conference title game. They will vie for the most miles traveled title every year, however.

Of course they would/will. Minimum 4 road … one is crosstown the other three are minimum 1,500 miles … previous winner of long distance travel was NU.

Here it is ...

Nebraska will play four Big Ten home games and five road contests during the 2024 season. Big Ten opponents visiting Memorial Stadium in 2024 will include Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Nebraska will travel to Iowa, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue and Big Ten newcomer UCLA.

The 2025 conference schedule will feature five home games for Nebraska, with Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Rutgers, and UCLA coming to Lincoln. Nebraska will travel to Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio State and USC during the 2025 Big Ten schedule.

Game dates for the 2024 football schedule will be announced later this year.

The Big Ten Conference schedules were developed based on a Flex Protect Plus model, which features a combination of protected opponents and rotating opponents for universities. Each school will continue to play nine conference games per season, and teams will play every other conference opponent at least twice—once home and once away—in a four-year period.

Nebraska’s one guaranteed annual protected matchup will be against Iowa. The Huskers and Hawkeyes have concluded the regular season against each other on Black Friday since Nebraska joined the conference in 2011.

The 2024 Big Ten Football Championship Game will be the first to feature the top two teams in the overall conference standings at the end of the regular season. Tiebreaking procedures will be announced later.

Nebraska 2024 and 2025 Big Ten Opponents

2024

Home
: Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Wisconsin

Away: Iowa, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, UCLA

2025

Home
: Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Rutgers, UCLA

Away: Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio State, USC
2024... very manageable.
2025... yikes! USC, Michigan, and Ohio St.

NU draws arguably the three best teams/programs in the same year.

I like it. Rhule will have some big national stage games in 2025 where a resurgent Nebraska will have a chance to make some noise. I'd much rather watch those games than Rutgers, Indiana, etc.

The temporary home/home rivals is fine. It wasn't clear to me, but I assume the 'flex' teams are going to be home and away over the 4 year cycle, just not necessarily in back to back years.

Now as part of that ongoing process, it appears the Big Ten is doing its due diligence on potential future members of the conference, vetting up to 10 teams from across the country, according to new speculation.

Those teams include: Oregon, Washington, Miami, North Carolina, Duke, Utah, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Cal, and Stanford.
Just add them all. Change the B10 to Big 30 and get up to that number

I (think I) like the 2024 and 2025 schedules. 2024 isn't too bad, and 2025 will be great if Rhule has built us back into a contender because we will have several high profile games. If we are competitive, the national exposure will benefit us even if we lose a few games. If are still mediocre, then 2025 will suck. I hate getting blown out.
