I wonder if we overestimate the relative strength of our NIL funds compared to much larger states with many more megadonors.

I don't. If Frost was able to lure that many top transfers last year, we're definitely up there. According to the stats we were what, #3 last year? I'm just getting the feeling that Rhule isn't a fan of getting into bidding wars with other schools and wants guys who truly want to be here, but in today's CFB landscape I'm not sure that strategy will work.

Another thing I noticed is that it seems like many of the transfers we are targeting are low/mediocre prospects. I see Oklahoma LB David Ugwoegbu and Tennessee LB Juwan Mitchell and some other big-time names in the portal, but it doesn't seem like we're pursuing them.

I hate it when this happens to NU, and they seem to get their share of these mysterious flips after it seems like the deal is done. An odd deal in this case, but who knows what he was promised or given in Gainesville. As another poster mentioned, it often gets dicey when another team has the last visit.

College sports should NEVER be about money. NIL and the transfer portal are ruining college athletics. I'm not so naive as to think that money has never been involved, but the whole notion of student athlete has been turned on its head.

I am increasingly becoming a fan of FCS athletics.
