Sometimes Mr Barney really frazzles me. Early in the BG game he caught the ball for a first down and then backtracked trying to elude a tackler. And ended up being tackled short of the first down marker. He did that two or three more times later in the game, but was successful in getting back those yards. Of course he also made some exciting plays but he takes way too many risks for my poor heart! And someone remind him a fair catch is still legal.

He's too much of a playmaker to sit him but one of these days he's gonna gamble and lose and it's gonna hurt us bad.

Last week he ran horizontal after a catch so long players behind the play caught up and tackled him. I think it's pretty hard to train a guy out of that mentality, but he should limit his gyrations to one juke and then head for the goal line. IMHO.

I was a critic in the offseason because in prior years I felt he relied on his athletic ability and didn’t work enough on the finer facets of the game such as footwork, change of direction and route running.

His TD against BG was excellent with an inside-outside move. Outstanding route with minimal steps and an explosive move. It’s apparent that he has worked on that which will help him down the road in the NFL.

He’s had a very untimely penalty in both games that nullified two TDs. But both can be offered up as aggressiveness especially since his coaches are emphasizing blocking.

@Bigger Ed stated there was a 3rd down pass play where if he would’ve immediately taken off for the 1st down marker he would’ve gotten it instead to dancing around.

His biggest asset is his elusiveness. As much as it might give you palpitations, he's never going to be a guy that throws his shoulder down and plows forward, his body isn't built for that.

The punt stuff I do agree with. A lot has been made about us not getting enough of a flip in field position in the punt game because our returning hasn't been great. I feel like we are almost forcing things now to try and make something happen in the punt game. Really don't want turnovers or someone getting hurt when a fair catch would do.

There are times when Barneys dancing around pics up extra yards. There are times it hinders him. I remember fans griping about EJ last year a few times and his JR year too about that. And he turned out pretty good. Im ok with losing a few yards from time to time and then also picking up big gaines because of it. Im sure the staff is working with him on it.

I do really hate that on other boards I check on, fans will go ballistic on him. I just think thats dumb. This kids made a TON of plays for us over the years and bleeds red. No player is perfect, Barney is a huge asset to this team and he makes plays for us big time

He is trying to make a big play into a bigger play …… god bless him. It’s so dang easy sitting on a couch saying what these guys should do …. If front of 86,000 screaming fans.
I hear ya. I leave it to the coaches to determine their tolerance for risk taking. I'm just along for the ride. :) He's a TD or a fumble just waiting to happen. I just wish I knew which!
