Former Nebraska player and assistant coach Barney Cotton underwent a successful heart transplant Tuesday night, UNLV head football coach Tony Sanchez told the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Wednesday.

I went to school with Barney at Burke High School in Omaha. Super nice guy. Ended my football career (actually it was my size, speed, and strength that ended my career) one day in high school I was walking home from school and this super popular stud football and basketball player picks up this quiet unassuming nobody (he knew me because I was a student manager for the football team) and gives me a lift home (out of his way I might add) he didn’t have to do that but that’s the kinda dude he was. Thanks Barney and get well soon my friend. :Thumbsup:

Nice story about a Husker. Really speaks volumes about the man that his main focus is centered around the family of the person who donated the heart. Hopefully, he continue to improve and stay healthy.
