We only played 5 games on defense this year, Impaler?

How many points did PSU put up? Washington did not "whup us all day."

It amazes me how so many fans will manipulate the stats to slam the team. Kind of incredible to me.

At least Cardinal had the good sense not to come back to this thread.

No, and I didn't suggest as much did I? Reading comprehension is a wonderful thing. 41.6% must equal 100% now? Sorry to disagree with you on UW, but they put up 42 points on us and 420 yards. How is that not whooping the D? What exactly snowballed on us in that game? PSU put up 14 points, and 375 yards. I wasn't aware the argument was about PPG though, but since you want to bring that in, we gave up 27 or more 6 times, and had Braxton not been injured I am guessing OSU would have put up more (only speculation based on how the game was going).

It amazes me how so many fans will manipulate the stats to make the team look better than it actually was. Kind of incredible to me.

What was the score at the end of the 3rd quarter of the washington score?

Too bad the game doesn't stop at the end of the 3rd quarter.

this from the guy who knows Miller would have led OSU to more point (despite his fumble being the turning point in the game). comedy.

the point of third quarter stat was to refute the obviously erroneous statement you made that UW "whooped us all day."

come on, impaler. you're better than this, aren't you?

My exact quote so there is no confusion:

The Impaler said:

Sure sounds like I was saying I KNOW.

Sorry, whooped us 3 out of 4 quarters and especially the 4th.

come on, impaler. you're better than this, aren't you?

Not even worth responding to the last part.

well if the talent is there ..then it must be poor coaching

I do think our DL is poorly coached....minus Suh (and that was more brute strength than tech) I have seen very very little out of our DL from a pure technically sound pov. Their pass rush moves are god awful, hand placement is very very inconsistent which in turn makes striking and controlling the tempo of the blocker atrocious, pad level gets high, shoulders get turned on a consistent basis...needless to say, I am not impressed at all with what is being done with our DL

Ok, you assume that he would have. Again, never the benefit of the doubt to Nebraska.... with friends like these, so to speak.

Sorry, whooped us 3 out of 4 quarters and especially the 4th.

They scored 17 points in the first three quarters, and had 2 drive of more than 50 yards, turned the ball over 3 times, and scored one of their two TDs on a 23 yard drive.

Almost half their yards and more than half their points came in the 4th quarter after NU put defensive subs in (something that Bo NEVER does... right?). The game was never in jeopardy. They did not "whup" our D.

Not even worth responding to the last part.

And yet you did.

Why should they get the benefit of the doubt? They didn't do anything to show they were going to shut Braxton down. David made a phenomenal play on that fumble but other than that what did our D do to show they could shut OSU down up until Miller went out? Regarding the second part I am getting tired of your accusations that some of us are essentially better fans because we aren't critical. I know you will come back and say "I didn't say that" but you are clearly implying it and I think that's a bunch of BS. Been a die hard all my life and will be til the day I die. I don't boo our team, I buy merchandise, I go to games and I scream for the Huskers. I guess that isn't good enough since I happen to think we were mediocre this year on D.

I don't recall saying Bo doesn't sub on D. Thanks for putting words in my mouth again. Having watched the whole game, I never felt that the D played well accept for the 3rd quarter. JMO, 42 points and 420 yards, despite when they came is never good. But lets say I give you this one, what about NW and FSU and Wisc and Mich? Yes, Wisc and Mich snowballed, but our D the last 2 years would have stepped up for us and kept us in those games.

And yet you did.

Yep, my way of saying you don't need to be a jerk because we disagree.

The important part of the quote was "All those teams are loaded with top-flight young talent. The Huskers, it seems, not so much." Not much to debate there.
Define "young talent".
For me, it's players who have already shown ability in games and still have two years of eligibility. So Taylor Martinez is young talent. On offense, we also have Quincy Enunwa, Kenny Bell, Ameer Abdullah, Spencer Long, Jake Cotton, Tyler Moore, Jeremiah Sirles, and maybe Jamal Turner. My gut tells me Aaron Green fits in that category, but we haven't seen enough of him.
Admittedly, defense is a little thinner on young talent. Andrew Green and Chase Rome are the obvious ones. Jason Ankrah seemed to take a step up late in the year. Admittedly we didn't see that much of them this year, but Stanley Jean-Baptiste, Harvey Jackson and Corey Cooper all looked athletic to me.
Best guess: we'll be better on offense and about the same on defense next year.

From his article on the Big 10 Title game:

Recruiting: Nebraska had better put its work boots on and tie them high and tight. Wisconsin and Michigan State aren't going away. Michigan is on the rebound fast. Ohio State will be right back for a run at the top, too. All those teams are loaded with top-flight young talent. The Huskers, it seems, not so much.

Didn't NU just beat two of those teams (and pretty much dominate MSU in all facets)? The only team to really worry about in those 4 mentioned is Michigan, since after 2012 NU won't be playing OSU or Wisconsin in the regular season for a few years.

I would concur with this statement.
