I don't think you are necessarily wrong, I kept yelling at the TV for him to fall down so we could get the TO and FG attempt. At some point I felt pretty comfortable he was going to get in. WE can if and buts all night long, he got in and we should be happy, but I would agree we don't want to cut it this close on a regular basis. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of urgency in the last bit which also concerned me but hopefully they will learn from this.Rewatched the end of H1 drive.
I know where I made my mistake counting TOs. The TO MSU took at 19 seconds I mistook as an NU TO.
Third and 1 … 19 seconds
Genatone gets a carry to get 1st down … clock stops at 15 seconds to move the chains.
Clock restarts with everyone set … Colandrea doesn’t snap the ball until 10 second mark.
Genatone scores with 2 seconds left. If he’s defended closer I’m convinced time runs out on a tackle in bounds.
I don’t want to reignite the debate but that is my take-away from rewatching the end of H1.
No doubt. The last 2 years prove that -- where we had them beat and the bastards came out of nowhere to win it.That flukey tipped pass that went right back to Iowa TE set up the TD. That set them up in the red zone. Iowa has that Sooner magic.
No, we were 7-0 in 2016. That year where we were way overrated. If NU manages to win this weekend, it will be the first time since 2010 that they have started the season 5-0.

I will say there seemed a lack of urgency, for sure. If MSU hadnt called the T O, we probably would have run out of time, if Genatone doesnt score. With one unused timeout.Rewatched the end of H1 drive.

2016. Elite Coach Mike Riley took the Huskers to a 7-0 start and was ranked as high as 7th. So, ten yearsIf NU manages to win this weekend, it will be the first time since 2010 that they have started the season 5-0.

I thought we had one play then the TO and field goal had msu not used their time out.I will say there seemed a lack of urgency, for sure. If MSU hadnt called the T O, we probably would have run out of time, if Genatone doesnt score. With one unused timeout.
True...maybe you should be telling that to the guy who was questioning how it happened. We scored 7 points and ran the clock down to 2 seconds. Perfect job.
MSU called T O. Then we ran for 1st down. Then the td pass. I contend, all things being equal, with no MSU T O, the clock runs out before Genotone scores. Unless we use our T O after the run for 1st down....I thought we had one play then the TO and field goal had msu not used their time out.
You could just admit you don't know what would have happened. Of course, you should also recognize that IF he were defended closer and tackled in bounds the play would have been over well before 2 seconds showed on the clock. Then MR calls timeout and there is plenty of time for a FG....or another play for a TD.Rewatched the end of H1 drive.

That was a problem when he was with the Panthers, too. I feel like younger coaches do a better job of clock management because they grew up playing Madden and NCAA competitively. McVay, LaFleur, Brady, and Sirianni are the best in the NFL at clock management and all 46 or younger. You play 2.000 competitive games of Madden and you get pretty good at it. Then you watch coaches like Angry Reid botch it over and over. I don’t even want to know how many time Mahomes has saved him.I’m glad they got the touchdown, but agree it was poor clock management. You have to leave time for a field goal at minimum. It all worked out though. Rhule has never been great at clock management.
I wasn’t challenging your post. More of a. Add on to your post.True...maybe you should be telling that to the guy who was questioning how it happened.
Yes Fitz was so annoyed by our click mismanagement that he called the TO to end his own frustration.Rewatched the end of H1 drive.

Agree with your take. It ended up fine, but that was not ideal. Things like that will lose you a game against a better opponent. Hope they get it buttoned up.
They could???? Scored a TD with :02 left on the clock. How could it have gone better, except maybe if :00 was on the clock?I agree the last 50 seconds could have gone better, but what do you think Rhule should have done differently?
