Rankings don't mean much. Of course they used to but with the playoffs now a team just has to be good enough to get in. Win the conference. It is that simple. 12 teams get to go to the tournament and the NCAA has done its best to make who goes a complicated mess but winning the B1G is a sure thing and the Huskers have the schedule to do that. (They have the schedule but not necessarily the coach).

I am curious how many local media members have votes. We have played deserving of several votes. I have watched Washington twice and we faired better against our opponents twice now. UW is overrated to this point. If I was Rhule and the team I would be ticked off with the local media too if they have AP votes. You can tell he is a little more pointed with media since year 1 with media. I would be too.

Not sure Rhule cares if we're ranked at this point. This off-season through the current point after game 2, I don't think we've ever been so low key (yes, I said "low key" like it's supposed to be used!). Never in my life has there been so little said about NU football in the national media. I'd like to think that Rhule & staff are using it as a motivator for the team.

Just keep playing like we're capable, and the votes will come.

I am all for the underdog role and surprising people. The more other teams sleep on us the better.

I believe these are the voters for this year.

From a quick review, here is the only one who I see as local

Wait until after Michigan State to even consider ranking NU. They’ve done nothing but what they were supposed to do. Can’t crap your pants at Michigan State, or the following week at home against Maryland. 5-0 is the benchmark. Anything less would be a failure. That would put the spotlight on NU for a HUGE home game against Indiana. Get to 6-0, and I think the rankings will take care of themselves.

Have to go 9-4 to have a shot at being ranked at end of season. Huskers do that and I will be dancing in the street.

If NU is 5-0 going into Indiana w/ College GameDay or Big Noon Kickoff coming into town they’ll want us ranked just to hype up the TV matchup.
