very rough, at 49 hes in the 5 percent of those diagnosed before 50. my mom took care of someone who had parkinsons and it was a challenge. luckily he is still young and mobile/active. Hopefully with his connection to the university he can get into some trials to see if they can help.

Yes I believe there is … although I do not have any handy at the tips of my fingers.

AG unfortunately pre-dates the NFL emphasis on player safety, newer redesigned helmets, and an emphasis on reducing big hits. Is that enough?

My Mom had Alzheimer's and never played a down of football.

I've had several concussions, but none of them came from football. I'd rather die prematurely of a brain disease, than never to have experienced the benefits of playing football.

Muhammad Ali's issues came from getting hit in the Head continually and also the CTE issues and as science continues to progress more and more studies and issues will arise. I am not saying outlaw football but just look at all the studies and things that have come out over the last 10 years. Players are bigger stronger and faster than ever before. The hits and there physical outcomes will continue to be studied and rules will be looked at

Much is unknown about this disease, but people need to realize that it's not a short term death sentence. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's 6 years ago. My doc told me at the time, "It may progress slowly, may progress quickly, or your symptoms may never get worse than they are now. The only certain thing is that it doesn't just go away". There are different meds that can dramatically help keep symptoms under control, especially in early stages. It is definitely not a "one size fits all" affliction - symptoms can vary from person to person. A lot of folks think of Michael J. Fox and to them, that's Parkinson's. That's just flat out not the case. Ahman may very well have a long, productive life ahead of him. Wish him well but please don't count him out!
