That isn't my reasoning. I'm just thinking that he is in year one...I haven't looked at their schedule so maybe they have the cupcake version this season.
I think it would be difficult for anyone to match Franklin's record there, not to mention improve on it.

Franklin was .698 (.640 in Big Ten play) all-time at PSU, second to none other than Joe Paterno in the modern college football era (MCFE.)

Campbell was .567 (.556 in Big 12 play) all-time at ISU (probably the best in MCFE at ISU.)

I wouldn't be surprised by the end of the '27 season, to see Franklin a candidate for ACC coach of the year and Campbell sitting on the hot seat.

Year 4 of the Rhule Era and people are "hoping" for 7 wins

Pretty sad. I thought the same thing. I reckon many on here see that as progress for some odd reason.

Waiting for your prediction given the current roster and 2026 schedule.

Let me just ask. The schedule most always will be tough. Is that fair? You might get last years schedule once every 4-5 years. Are you asking because the schedule is tough, and you think it will be a tough year? The roster, is top 25’ish without a doubt. I mean, at what point is it reasonable to expect more, even when the schedule is difficult? Should Iowa be a better program than NU? Should Minnesota, Illinois, be better programs? I’m just asking, so don’t blow a gasket.

7 maybe. Check again at the end of Fall Practice so we can see how many we have still standing, and whether lots of hoped for improvements have taken place. Can't tell in Mach..

I'm not so high on Franklin. He had Saquon Barkley save his job once & later he lucked in to Micah Parsons who saved him again. Then he loses 1 player & his season goes in the tank. IMO he's just been very fortunate (lucky) he lasted there that long.

I'm concerned that the over/under win total isn't more like 8.5 or 9.5 going into Rhule's 4th season.

There's a lot of money being spent in Lincoln. Maybe not enough to expect a playoff team, but certainly enough for a top 25 team at this point.

That is exactly what i was going to say.. In my opinion, to be in year 4 and still talking about fighting to be over .500 is a CLEAR indication of coaching issues in Lincoln. Don't tell me I am wrong, because even Matt Rhule himself agrees, or he wouldn't have fired coaches AGAIN.

Like you said, we are throwing a lot of money around to be predicting .500.

With Campbell replacing Franklin at PSU and their (IMO) inevitable dip in conference standings as a result, now would be a good time to seize that #3 spot and work up from there. If Ferentz retires soon, it'll make that task easier.

But, if we don't make significant progress towards that goal this year, it will end up being a wasted opportunity.

Top 3? At this point I’ll be giddy with top half (aka 9).

I guess you don’t remember our interactions when you were gone for awhile and I reached out.

I quoted a member saying that 7 wins was a low bar early in the thread and wanted to see his prediction based on his post…nothing more.

Is that fair enough?

I can see 6 wins.

I also think we beat one of Oregon, Indiana or Ohio St. Yep. I said it.

I also think we blow one of Michigan St or Rutgers.

Iowa will decide if we get 7 or more wins.

To me, this is easy money. And I will pounce

All I'm saying is there is an opportunity, nothing more. Someone will fill that void. Who knows, maybe Campbell can do it, but I think it will play out that he's certainly not better than Franklin.
