5-1, to 1-5

What happened after the 5-1 start? The one mismatch, the 56-7 pasting inflicted by Indiana. The one outlier on the season. 1-5 finish. Once again, coulda/woulda/shoulda won them all. Lost them all. Just imagine the what ifs? Don’t get blown out to Indiana. Imagine if they had beaten Ohio State, like they should have? Makes you a bit jealous, knowing your own team could be………Indiana (11-1), but it remains Nebraska.

If we had serviceable special teams, we’d probably be about a two-loss team.
I would add a mobile QB to that mix but I don’t really see NU as a 2 loss team under any circumstances in this conference. We did play some bad teams this year but we were worse.

This is Nebraska football now. There's no identity. There is no team anymore. Athletes come and go instead of sticking with the program. NU isn't where kids dream of playing at anymore. The fire is out and all that is left are the embers. You can say whatever you want but the reality is, NU football is dead.

I don’t understand why we don’t have a leader anywhere on the team. They “seem” to like each other—but it doesn’t appear as though anyone looks up to anyone in particular. Maybe NIL affects that, I don’t know. I wish DR watched more film instead of prancing around volleyball games.

As a fan base, we need to accept this quality of play. After a near decade of futility, this is the best it will probably ever get.

The leaders on defense are all 5th or even 6th year guys. The leader on offense is a 19yo true freshman. The offense lived and died by everything that Raiola was doing. But again...a freshman. My guess is next season the offense makes a HUGE leap forward while the defense takes a small step back. Next year will be the 8-10 win year. I remain hopeful.

I think we’re on the right track. I just wish we would see A LOT more urgency from Rhule. The fact he started this year with Foley and Statterfield again after what we saw from them last year just blows my mind. Urgency with high standards. Pull levers on what’s not working frequently. Don’t wait. Foley should not be coaching for the bowl game. The narrative needs to change in a major way with tangible results NOW.
