was just going to say the same thing.. that was one helluva game. Tigers were a tough team back in the day.
This was quite the fourth-quarter comeback. Trailing 16-7 with 12 minutes left and then scoring 30 unanswered.

Oh man, this game was fun, at least the 4th quarter was. I was the only one in my family that stayed up to listen to this game. I was 13 at the time.

Kickoff for the game in Honolulu was 11:30PM Central.
I stayed up 'til the wee hours in the morning listening on the radio. And it was a nail biter until the 4th quarter. We were behind 10-0 at halftime, still behind after 3, then outscored Hawaii 30-0 in the 4th to pull away.
Turner Gill didn't start that game, as he was having back spasms in the pregame. Bruce Mathison started on short notice. Gill did play some that day, but it was really the combination of Rozier and Craig that carried us to victory.
Regarding the '81 Missouri game in Columbia, when we pulled out a 6-0 win with the late score ... Warren Powers gave Nebraska and the fan base plenty of stress back in the day.
Powers was a very good head coach at Missouri. He got the Tigers into a bowl game in 5 of his 7 seasons -- when there were far fewer bowls. He also had Missouri ranked in the top 20 (there was no top 25 then) at the end of 3 of his 7 seasons. And his only losing season was his last in '84.
As most know, Warren Powers played for Nebraska, with his senior year being Devaney's first season. He then was an assistant under both Devaney and Osborne (after several years playing for the Oakland Raiders). His first head coaching gig was at Washington State in 1977. He took Wazzu into Lincoln and beat Nebraska. After one season at WSU, Powers went on to coach Missouri starting in '78. And what did he do in '78? His Tigers upset Nebraska the week following our huge win over #1 OU (which is why we ended up playing and losing to the Sooners in a rematch in the Orange Bowl). Also, Warren Powers was commonly called a dirty coach by Nebraska fans during his time in Columbia.

If you are a really good football team, you don't need fourth quarter comebacks.
I once recall reading a comment on Elway's leading fifty something comebacks, and the comment was that Reeves held him back so much and the Bronc's were sucky in a lot of areas, that he had to have all those comebacks. A better head coach and a better team, and he wouldn't have needed to make those.
So, comebacks are great, but it isn't a great stat. More of a backhanded complement.
Still you remember the Staubachs, Stablers, Elway and Montana. Those comebacks are spectacular and they were in big games. Elway just had to do it much more than most.
