Yeah. The 6-0 win over MIZZOU in 81 was a CLASSIC.
Was it Phil Bates at fullback for the win?
I remember watching it at a bar in Sioux City
was just going to say the same thing.. that was one helluva game. Tigers were a tough team back in the day.

This was quite the fourth-quarter comeback. Trailing 16-7 with 12 minutes left and then scoring 30 unanswered.
1982 Hawaii football
The nation's most potent offense exploded for 30 points in the fourth quarter and the Huskers beat Hawaii 37-16 in a win that was anything but a romp.www.huskermax.com
I mean, what else you gonna do? The Huskers are playing!Oh man, this game was fun, at least the 4th quarter was. I was the only one in my family that stayed up to listen to this game. I was 13 last the time.
In another thread, I mentioned there were rare 4th quarter comebacks during TO's tenure. That made me curious. How many were there? Here's what I found, with one score wins, and NU scoring last with the go ahead in the 4th.
1973 - KU - 10-9, FG with 12:28 left.
1974 - Florida - 13-10, FG with 1:46 left
1976 - Miami - 17-9, 10 points in final 6:24
1976 - OSU - 14-10, TD with 11:57 left
1977 - BAMA- 31-24, TD with 7:12 left
1977 - UNC - 21-17, TD with 3:16 left
1978 - OU - 17-14, FG with 11:51 left
1979 - Iowa - 24-21, FG with 5:52 left
1979 - MIZZOU - 23-20, FG with 3:15 left
1981 - MIZZOU - 6-0, TD with 6 secs left
1983 - OU - 28-21, TD with 14:25 left
1986- So. CARO - 27-24, TD with 1:26 left
1987 - ASU - 35-28, TD with 3:37 left
1991 - KSU - 38-31, TD with 2:47 left
1991, OU - 19-14, TD with 2:57 left
1994 - Miami- 24,17, TD with 2:46 left
1997 - MIZZOU, TD in OT
I was 12, and I recall it being VERY late (3a?) when that game ended?Oh man, this game was fun, at least the 4th quarter was. I was the only one in my family that stayed up to listen to this game. I was 13 at the time.
I threw up after that game. That 6-0 Missouri one had me a little intrigued so I went to the game page and watched the end.
NU had it 1st and gaol at the 5. Handed off up the middle to the 3. FG attempt would be almost exactly an extra point for the win.
Missouri calls time out instead of letting the clock run down to a final FG.
FB up the middle for a TD.
NU misses the XP.

If you are a really good football team, you don't need fourth quarter comebacks. In another thread, I mentioned there were rare 4th quarter comebacks during TO's tenure. That made me curious.
