We shouldn't be losing head-to-head football recruiting battles with Kansas for an out-of-state kid, even with Miles as the coach at KU.
We lost recruiting battles to Illinois for basically the exact same reason happening in this scenario. It will happen but the majority of recruits over the long haul it won’t be an issue at all.

I'm sure Alabama says the same thing about us. "We shouldn't be losing guys like Ty Robinson and Noa Pola-Gates to a team that's gone 8-16 over the last two years." Sometimes coaches just develop good relationships with kids. It's perplexing to us why someone would wanna go to a place like Kansas or Illinois, but sometimes it's about those relationships and the attention they get from the staff and fanbase.

There is definitely the human element to it. Gotta expect things to not go how an objective drawing out of the situation would create.

If the composite three-star receiver eventually joins the Huskers, that stretch of time will be as critical as anything that happened after he and the Longhorns parted ways in early December. At least that's how Darwin Franklin — Houston's coach at Oklahoma City Millwood — sees it.

"That's one thing that Coach (Scott) Frost's staff does a great job with is they target guys, then they develop relationships," Franklin said. "Even after he had committed to Texas and then Texas pulled off of him, they continued to communicate with him and keep their relationship. Shoot, depending on what decision he makes, it could pay out."
Millwood used Houston all over the field on offense last year and mixed him in as a defensive back and kick returner, Franklin said. His verified 100-meter speed of 10.71 seconds establishes him as a straight-line burner, but his route running was perhaps the most improved part of his game.

"It's just been four years of productivity that he's done a great job at," Franklin said. "But the world is one of those things where he's had to earn every bit of it. He's done a great job with everything, and it's impressive what he's done."
