When I played in high school back in early 70s, our games were always on Saturday
Looks like they played their first game with no known commitment for Brix

As for the Saturday games. A lot of inner city schools moved away from Fradays to early Saturday. (Noon or 1) to do away with fights in the stands. Bored teenagers sometimes just want to start trouble.
