Just finished reading "24th and Glory" by Dirk Chatelain. Would recommend it especially if you were a teenager in the late 50's through the 60's in Nebraska. The book descibes those behiind the scenes personalities that had much responsibility for the development of the great athletes raised in the 24th and Lake area of Omaha i.e. Gibson, Boozer, Sayer's brthers, Brisco, Rogers. Details the impact on the area with the loss of the stockyard/meat packing industry jobs and the impact of the Civil Rights movement on that period of time. A really good read.
