2026 Schedule

Can anyone tell me when the 2026 schedule will be unveiled?
Also, is there any new info on a possible Wrigley game? I can’t find anything more recent than when it was hinted at in the fall.

There is a strong rumor of Nebraska-Texas in Vegas in a September non conference match. Nebraska is not eligible for the week zero AVCA First Serve because they were in it the last two years. It will be late spring before the nonconference gets finalized — but I would look for a PBA weekend in the nonconference. The open question for the conference is whether there will be a conference tournament this year. If there is, each team will probably only play every other team once, without having three teams on a home and home schedule.
The spring beach schedule is out — trips this year to Arizona and Florida, not Hawaii or California this year.

Also, no word yet on whether we will have two spring matches like last year, and whether we will go to an oustate venue like during the Cook years.

Texas and Creighton for sure. Probably one of either Stanford, Kentucky, Pitt, or Louisville. I would like us to schedule some different teams though. Perhaps Baylor, Florida, Texas A&M, or Tennessee.

I thought the SEC/ACC challenge last year was intriguing. I would like to see the Big Ten do something similar with the Big 12.

I am about 95% confident there will be an end of season Big 10 tournament at some point. It might not be this year, but it will eventually happen.

Three spring games this year. University of Northern Colorado will come to Chadron for the annual “out west “match. And Nebraska will go to Omaha to play Creighton in their gym in the spring. Third match has not been announced, but I imagine it will be in Lincoln.
There is still talk of a fall match in Wrigley Field. Stay tuned on that.

Aren't they still renovating the Devaney Center? Not sure they can play in Lincoln, unless it is at PBA.

Wrigley Field might be a challenge. Isn't Chicago known as the "windy city"? I think that Volleyball Day in 2023 was so perfect it is almost impossible to top it. The odds of an outdoor game in the Midwest being too windy or too hot are high. Not worth it in my opinion.

I agree with much of what you posted. However, the athletic department needs to generate as much revenue as possible. This type of event might bring the vb program back into the black and not the red.

Someone on Volleytalk suggested we should put a dome over the football field and have all the volleyball home games there. Great idea, though the view from the upper decks might not be that good. :Corn2:

Yeah that sounds fiscally responsible…lol.

And if the Rickett family is making the venue available, can the AD say no?

Ah, yeah. Obviously, it was a joke. The Devaney Center will hold about 10,000 after the renovations, up from the previous 8,500 limit. That should put a good chunk of change into the AD's pocket and put volleyball finances back into the black.

Thanks for the info but I attended the 2025 NCAA VB Final Four in KC. I am up on the renovations taking place in the Devaney Center. Have you not looked closely at my avatar? ;)
